I'm just as disheartened by the career politician as anyone, but there are political sensitivities at work on a global scale that are difficult to see and crucial to our own domestic policy. Even the most intelligent person needs to spend time in Congressional committees, the State Department, or the Pentagon to even begin to understand them.
The business world provides some of this education, but it's just not the same environment as the board room. Although the global economic education is extensive, the exposure to geopolitical nuances is not on the same level.
