....because we are going to need something to do in about two days besides hope that the rebels choke again.

I believe that Polk wants to come back to MSU as a volunteer assistant, and he knows that if he ever wants that to happen, he better keep his mouth shut.

I think Cohen will let him do it, but he has to apologize to Byrne for that to happen, which as we all know hasn't happened yet.

Plus, you have his comments about MSU having to make some difficult perssonel decisions about a couple of weeks ago, and he didn't seem all that upset about it.

but with a roster limit of 35, and D-I players having to sit out a year if they transfer, I doubt that they will take that many.

I think that some of the players may get there via JUCO if they are a Fr.

I think they will end up taking 1-2.

the two differ too much on philosophy and approach to the game....Plus, Polk would threaten to kill Cohen after he called him a stupid mf'er one too many times...</p>

...that doesn't happen. Polk doesn't need to be anywhere near our baseball program. Costanza might disagree, but he makes Jackie look small in terms of the cancer he would bring to the program.

Cohen talked about how he would like to include him in the program somehow. I'm not sure to what extent.

You have to remember that, yes, while they differ in philosophy very greatly, Cohen also respects Polk more than anyone.

Yeah I remember Cohen talking about that. I would think that including Polk would help from a recruiting standpoint. Although I'm not sure if the differences in coaching tactics between the two would clash, that could possibly be a detriment to the program.

Cohen may want to include Polk, but he is smart enough to know that it may not work. What's Cohen going to do when Polk pulls him to the side at practice and says, "John, you shouldnt use profanity in front of the players...it's offensive and crude" or "John, I really dont like the way you are handling the SS situation....and while we're talking, I think you change pitchers too often"....

Or even worse, he doesnt pull him off to the side, and says it in front of everybody because his name is on the stadium?

Polk ain't gonna tell Byrne he is sorry, 2nd like 34 said, Cohen is smart enough to know it want work with Polk on the bench. Now I can see Polk around the Dudy and talking baseball and maybe being involved with the camps but no real coaching and "thats baseball talk". Polk screwed up badly, all he had to do is drive his Buick off of Dudy Noble field and keep his mouth shout and he probably would be involved.

after the ****-storm he caused a year ago. And to think that Byrne would forget all of that because Polk comes to Starkville and says "I'm sorry"? Please...

That would be the baseball equivalent of a guy breaking into your house, stealing your big screen, drinking all your whiskey, taking a crap on your lazy boy, and then kicking your dog on the way out, only to come back a year later and simply say "I'm sorry". Ron Polk dug his grave, and I don't think he'll be anywhere near MSU athletics until Greg Byrne is long gone.

I wasn't saying that Polk would get off his lazy *** and go get them. I was saying that there might be a lot of guys who would like to come get coached by the "living legend, the man that put college baseball on the map", Ron Polk.

In other words, I can see where it could possibly help attract some recruits.

but I also know that Cohen has already gone against Polk's wishes once already- when he took the HC job at MSU even though Polk told him it should go to Raffo.

Cohen is also the type of person that would lay ground rules and has a one track mind. I think Cohen would make it clear that this is his team now, and that if Polk wants to join in, he better behave, or leave.
