This hire might be the most important one he makes. I have not heard any names being mentioned. A name I would be curious about is Ron English. He had good D's at Michigan (with Michigan talent of course) but has fallen off the map at Louisville.

beat writer for MSU and he said not to rule Ellis Johnson coming back. He said word around campus is that Ellis has contacted Mullin about possibly coming back. Take it for what it's worth....

I don't know, but he needs to hurry up and do it. I'm afraid this is one of the factors that might lead to us losing McPhee, who we desperately need as a legitimate pass rusher. Mullen can tell these defensive recruits what kind of scheme we'll run til he is blue in the face, but they need to hear it from the guy that will be calling their plays.

If he's content to wait until January and risk losing a guy like McPhee he had better be sitting on a Bud Foster type.

Last night I over heard Reed "The Recruiter" Stringer trying to explain to a drunk guy at the Veranda how all of our new coaching positions would work. It went something like: Hud is the passing game coordinator/ WR coach, ______ will be the running game/coordinator, and then I never understood who was going to call the plays. The way that he talked, we were going to have a OC on top of all of that. He also said that Mullen wanted to have some full time recruiters that were not coaches, which sounds like a good idea to me. When asked who some of the candidates were he responded by saying that he really didnt know but he heard him on the phone alot with people. He also said that Tyler Russell is coming and that the best QB will start next year.

maybe mullen will say over the headphones "run play" and the run coordinator picks the best run play to run at the time and vice versa for passing plays... just a thought.

He said he'd try to have coordinators in place by the end of the weekend. Bet Doug Colson was pissed Mullen interrupted his monologue about the 2009 Seattle Seahawks draft.</p>

There is some rule similar to that, I think. Because we wanted someone in our admin to recruit, but he wasn't allowed to. May have been David Saunders.

you know Mashek doesn't care what happens to OM or MSU. He's an LSU "Tigah" all the way. He started out working in Baton Rouge and remains an LSU fan. He actually graduated from Western Ky. My wife worked for the Sun Herald for 8 years, until we moved to North MS....and the whole time I couldn't stand Mash. I don't read that paper any longer, thus don't have to get pissed reading his LSU slanted crap.

You did not pick up on the smart *** undertone of the post... what if someone had called it the Jackson Ledger, 10 people would have jumped on him.
