3. Texas 11-1- fairly big name who did well at team that was generally poor
4. Florida 11-1- up and comer, hot name
5. USC 10-1- flamed out NFL coach, anyone could have hired him at this time
6. Utah 12-0- coordinator
7. Texas Tech 11-1- coordinator
8. Penn State 11-1- Only Jesus can remember (coordinator)
9. Boise State 12-0- coordinator
10. Ohio State 10-2- Div 1AA coach
11. TCU 10-2- coordinator
12. Ball State 12-0- assistant coach
13. Cincinnati 10-2- head coach at a Mac School, Div II coach previously
14. Oklahoma State 9-3- coordinator
15. Georgia Tech 9-3- head coach at small school, 1-AA coach previously
16. Georgia 9-3- coordinator
17. Boston College 9-3- NFL Assistant
18. BYU 10-2- coordinator
19. Oregon 9-3- coordinator
20. Missouri 9-3- head coach at a mac school
21. Michigan State 9-3- 2 years at a mid level school
22. Northwestern 9-3- coordinator
23. Pitt 8-3- former NFL coach, very little demand for him

interesting - thanks for looking that up.

Certainly doesn't make someone like Wilson sound all that bad, not that he ever sounded like a bad idea.

were either assistants or smaller-school coaches when hired, the talking heads here are correct when they say our search is a failure if we dont hire an established head coach? But these are the same guys that told me the veer wouldnt work in a BCS conference because of better athletes...seems they didnt think about better athletes being on offense too....

Interesting info. Still seems like alot of "failed coaches" came in a coordinators. I think a proven HC is less of a gamble, but who knows?
