Where did this Peterson Rumor come from

I have read thread after thread about Peterson coming, but where is this talk coming from. I need a little more info than "rumor is Peterson to MSU." I like most of you think Croom will dig his heels in a not fire a sole and make Byrne fire him, but where does the Peterson talk come from?</p>

Byrne and Peterson used to work together in Oregon for a few years in the mid 90s and have a pretty good relationship. But something tells me Chuck Neinas may have more to say on that...

I don't want to start a "MSU isn't a good job" debate, but I don't see MSU being any higher than 3rd or 4th on Petersen's list. Clemson needs a coach, Tennessee needs a coach, Auburn might need a coach, Texas Tech might need a coach. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but I gotta think Petersen is gone before we get a shot.

I think Leach goes to UT, he is not happy in Lubbock, Clemson will hire Muschamp, could be wrong there, but that just seems to fit, I don't see Tubby leaving this year, next year yes if he doesn't get it turned around. Don't forget Graham at Tulsa he could be on some of these list. We are not in the same boat as those, but we are a damn good job.

My question wasn't if we could get him, just some info on what the connection is.

Clemson will probably go after Bobby Johnson, and then who knows who UT is going to go after. If they go after Leach, I still like our odds against Texas Tech, especially since he would be following a coach that may get them to a BCS bowl. I could see Auburn going after him, maybe, but I bet Tuberville stays. I also think that Texas Tech might want to hire from within, especially since they have had so much success with this coaching staff.

That's one thing I haven't seen talked about a lot on here- yes, some programs like TCU will be looking for new coaches, but if their current regime is having success, they're not likely to want to blow the whole thing up and start over. That's something that's going to be in our favor when and if we fire Croom.

You can pretty much add WSU and Syracuse to that and then there will be re-shuffling to replace coaches who leave for other jobs. If you could hire Peterson, your AD should do it now.
