Did Tubby even have one NIT? Don’t think he did. Two in 9 years is almost a fireable offense, at least it should be.
UK could very well not be one of the top 68 teams in the country when Selection Sunday is announced.
That was permissible in 2013, when UK was coming off a roster-clearing, ACL injury to Noel, and national title the year before.
This one will represent the first time Cal has to fully defend his system, which is broken now that he’s not wooing the transcendent kids by refusing to land go after the Aytons of the world while also losing to Duke for the “letterman’s jacket” elites.
So yeah, there will likely be 68 teams better than us come Selection Sunday, and that’s wholly pathetic.
Before the SECT: 3 games at home and 2 on the road. @ Arky and @ FL. If CATS sweep at home then that's 20 wins regardless and birth in the NCAAT regardless of the SECT...ray:
And completely at the mercy of the NCAA on Selection Sunday.

There is a lot of truth to this post, though I do think changes will be coming this off season. In fact, they could be MAJOR changes.
What if four losses in a row becomes five losses?
Possibilities are theoretically unlimited.
I hade always admired the Kentucky basketball tradition from afar but often wonder if Kentucky fans get Tired of the cal system and long for more the multi year guys in the 90s. Especially now that duke seems to be getting more of the true blue chippers
As long as I get to hear about our length for a few more games, I’m good with the NIT.
The length stuff is better than title contention, because I’m still not sure what it means when people talk about it being an effective foundation to a potentially great defensive team.
When exactly does that set in? It sounds magical, and I'm excited to see when it starts to come together...

People imply the NBA sale’s job is the only way to land these kids and yet we see high level kids all across the country playing more than two years.
I’m positive UK could sell more than a quick ticket to the league. Sell more. Sell the program; the potential for lifelong state assistance from UK fans; sell playing time as a multiyear guy; while not losing the focus on the NBA.
Identify those kids who don’t mind staying a few years.
I don't profess to know about quadrant 1 or 2, or whether they pay attention to the last 10 games or whatever, but if we end the year with a losing record in the SEC, we don't deserve to go to the tournament. I can't imagine a team in a non 5 power conference having a 22 win season with a handful of losses not going because we are an SEC school and blue blood in that scenario.
They can start with getting a junkyard dog recruiter of an assistant coach. Someone who won’t mind climbing into the grayzones and slashing the opponent’s tire on the trail, so to speak.
UNC made it in with 18 wins back in 2000.
Can't recall. Just remember this, the NCAA can use any criteria they want. 8-10 in the SEC can make it if they say so. 10-8 can keep UK out if they say so. It's arbitrary and none of the projecting means they'll follow the logical script.
That said, I agree with you. I don't think that scarier will play out favorably for UK.
Most of you so called fans Trolls only come on here when UK loses never see you when they win. I am tired of hearing they are going to the NIT! I am just as disappointed as anyone on this board in the last 4 games. We had 3 of 4 on the road against Missouri that is currently #22 RPI, UT #13, TA&M #17 and now Auburn #8 RPI. We should have won the UF and UT games at home and we would be sitting at 19-7 instead of 17-9. I have you looked at the RPI's and Rankings from #18 to #50 there is 22 teams with 8 or more losses in those 32 spots. Last year there was 16 teams given At Large Bids that were double digit losses from 10 losses to 15 losses and 8 more teams that had 9 losses last year in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Vanderbilt was 19-15 in last years NCAA Tournament as a 9 Seed. The last 2 or 3 years of the NCAA tournament has been this way with double digit losses.
I really get tired of these so called fans and trolls that are on this site. We are still at #20 RPI and yes we have to start winning in these last 5 games. We can shoot and we can play good ball we have played good games this year. We have to regroup and get this going in these last 5 games. One thing I will never do is give up on the Wildcats. I get frustrated when we are up 57-53 and we miss 3's and make turnovers and let them go on 13-4 run to lead 66-61. Then down 68-64 and we miss a layup and they promptly hit a 3. We could have easily put this game away tonight but we had stupid mistakes again. We still have to go to the next game vs. BAMA on Saturday and hope we can Win the next 4 or 5.

if you can't even win half your games in your conference, you don't need to be playing in the post season. Call me old school but I always thought that was what conference play was all about - building your post season resume. Right now our says, "don't call us, we'll call you"
I'd much rather we finish above .500 and make this point moot.
Going to mean UK goes 4-1 over the last 5, with four of those games against tourney-level teams.
Not impossible, but improbable at this point.

I get tired of these Trolls on here. I agree with a user earlier 'Where is the Mods?" It is ok to go to other team sites and I am one that goes to other sites. One thing I don't do is continue to bash there team, Players, Fans, and Coaches. I just can't believe Fans don't see this is not like past SEC season in basketball. From Top to bottom it is in the Top 2 leagues this years. Vandy beats Miss. State tonight and I am sure they didn't want to go to Vandy which 9-16 and they were 18-7 and lose tonight.

Vanderbilt was a 9 seed at 19-15 and 9-9 in the league and still a 9 seed at 19-15. There was additional 8 teams at 9 losses so there was 24 teams out of the 38 At-Large teams that had 9 losses to 15 losses.
Also, the 2013 year with Noel out we were #60 in the RPI. This year even though we are 17-9 we are still at #20 RPI and #6 SOS. There are so many teams this year even in the Rankings from #10 to #50 that has already 8, 9, and double digit losses. The last 2-3 years all of the Top 5 Conferences have so much better competition from top to bottom and so many teams losing on the road. I mean Duke loses on the road to Boston College and St. Johns. UNC lost 3 straight and lost to Wofford at home. There are more teams in each conference that are improving and recruiting and this year the SEC has 8 or 9 teams that are in Top 50 RPI. That hasn't happened in a long time in the SEC. It was always UK, Florida, sometimes, UT and that is about it and UK and Florida dominated for a long time.
The 2013 year for UK doesn't compare because that year we were #60 RPI and of course we lost to a Auburn that was in the 100's RPI we would dropped a lot. That is what has changed this year in the SEC.
We will go to the NCAA Tournament and we will get this turned around just like we did in 2013-2014 and we at 10 losses and had lost the last 4 of 6 but we made it to the Championship game vs. UCONN. Yes, we had Randle, Harrison Twins, Young but that team was miserable in the last 7 or 8 games of the season losing to Florida by 20 points. Young was having a hard time hitting the outside shots, Harrison was having a hard time at pg and finding his shot. We did turn it around in the SEC Tournament heading into the NCAA Tournament. We have to go out on Saturday and win vs. BAMA, and win at Rupp vs. Ole Miss & Missouri. I still believe we match up well with Arkansas and UF so if we can win 1 of 2 on the road we then have 20 or 21 wins. Then have a strong SEC Tournament. I just can't wait till we get on Neutral Courts and not on Courts that sell out when we come to town and having white outs. The rest of there games they have 1/2 the crowd in the SEC games. We will do better on Neutral floors not playing at TA&M, Auburn, Arkansas, UT, UF, etc. We will do better in the NCCA Tournament.

In any case, nothing has changed. Take care of business at home, there's almost zero chance we don't get a bid. Drop one, and we need to steal one on the road or one in the tourney.
A 20-win UK team is almost impossible to keep out (particularly since that should keep us in the 6-8 range in conf), but a 19-win team will be magnitudes easier to deny by proffering the "They couldn't even reach 20 wins" excuse, fair or not.

Get out of here with your constant “so called fans” and “trolls” crap. Whether you can see it or not, WE ARE IN TROUBLE. Fans aren’t happy losing 4 games in a row with a portly built roster and poor coaching. 6-7 in the SEC and probably should be worse without a few pure luck wins. Oh yeah, the fans that have a problem with this are trolls and aren’t real fans.You can type another long rambling post about how everything is ok, but the bottom line is if we lose Saturday, we are toast.
