Probably 3rd or 4th biggest win in my lifetime (45 years). Behind the SECC run in '98, and the Bama 6-3 game. Personally, I rank the '99 Egg Bowl pretty high for pure entertainment, but that wasn't a big win.

Its up there for sure....

I may have to wait and see how LSU finishes the year and what kind of season this win springs us to before I give a final answer. In other words, if we make a run at the West, I think this win starts to move up the rankings...

(1) 1980 Bama
(2) 1998 Arkansas
(3) 2000 Florida
(4) 2014 LSU

I've only been a fan since 2000.

1. UF 2000 - my first game as an MSU fan. I was college freshman and that entire day was insane. It's going to take an SEC championship to top this one for me.
2. LSU 2014 - Death Valley at night. I'm 1/1 in Baton Rouge. Who wants to fund the next trip?
3. Alabama 2006 in Tuscaloosa. Bama was down then, but silence in Bryant Denny is golden in any era.
4. Probably an Egg Bowl. They are all running together now...

I fully understand ...

that it will 'fade' as time passes ... BUT right now, it's the second biggest in our football history; right behind beating #1 Bama.

Mullen has done a great job since arrival but still needed that 'signature win' to show he could coach against the 'big boys.' This win came at a perfect time.

Jackie had some really big wins ... but he also had some really embarrassing losses (LA Tech, LA Monroe, Troy & Tulane).

- It broke the LSU losing streak @ Tiger Stadium
- They were #8 and 'showed' we beat a Top Ten team
- It was @ night on a Saturday, in Tiger Stadium where Leslie is was 40-2
- It was before a 'new' record crowd of 102,321
- Vast majority of that LSU record crowd abandoned "Death Valley" in droves when State went up 31-10
- We totally out-manned and out-coached and out-played a group of majority 5 & 4 Star players ... in front of their fans
- With his whinny 'he hurt our players' comments, Leslie has jumped right up my list of least favorite person

I'll be more decisive in a few more weeks. OM was riding high on a Texas win a year or so ago. Turned out Texas was not that good. I'm waiting to see what LSU team we beat.
However getting the Death Valley monkey off if our back was sweet.

Yeah, it'll be better to answer this question in December. But, anytime you can win in Baton Rouge, it's a good day.

For me personally the list is:
-2007 Alabama: Just an awesome day in general. That interception return before half was the most epic moment ever at a football game. We beat Alabama about once every 10 years so this one was special for me.
-2009 Ole Miss: My own (and Dan Mullen's) first Egg Bowl, and we beat the dog out of an Ole Miss team who was ranked as high as #4 earlier that year.
-2010 Michigan: A very very good win for us. And I don't even care how mediocre Michigan was that year. It was still Michigan and we beat the tar out of them in a very decent bowl game.
-2014 LSU: We all wanted this one....BAD. Mullen and crew did not disappoint.
-2013 Ole Miss: Very Epic win for us. Dak was clutch in that game.
-2010 Florida: Winning in the Swamp is just as hard and rare as Death Valley. Throw in the fact that Urban Myer was Florida's coach at the time, and the win is that much sweeter.

1. '98 Arkansas (those third and fourth down conversions had me thinking Wayne Madkin was a wizard, plus the SECCG implications)
2. '99 Ole Miss (just the culmination of the craziest and most fun season of MSU football ever, LSU, UK, AUB all coming down to the wire)
3. '00 Florida (I've never seen MSU as dominant in a game and not sure I ever will again)
4. '14 LSU (This could move higher depending on how the rest of our and their season plays out, but it's a HUGE win regardless)

It's the most dominant road win against a top 10 team in recent history. Its up there with the Florida beatdown in 2000. Despite the 19 trash points at the end of the game, we shoved them up and down the field and limited them to hardly any rushing.

I'm expecting it to end up 2nd behind the '98 Arkansas game. If we have a special season that falls short of the SEC championship game, I think there will be a couple of games that could be looked at as particularly important, but I think this will get the nod because it (1) was a coming out party for this year's team, (2) got the LSU monkey and Death Valley monkey off our back (3) Got Dan a top 10 win and (4) was in Death Valley at night.

The Bama game was obviously huge, but it didn't really turn into anything. Similarly, the 2000 Florida game was probably the peak of any team I've watched, but it fell apart before the season was even over.

In the modern era, I put it third for most impressive win behind '80 Bama and just a smidge behind '00 Florida.
If I throw in personal favorites, it drops to 5th behind '98 Arkansas and '99 UM, and just edges out '96 Bama.

All time, add 1935 Army and the 1941 Orange Bowl above it.

Top 5. 1980 AL win is first, not sure how I would go from there. Don't forget about the Texas win in the early 90's. They were ranked 13th at the time coming off a big year. I don't think they finished very well after we beat them though.

They had pitched defensive shutouts in their last 2 games and beat a top 20 team to start the season. LSU is good no matter what their own fans or OM homers try to say.

If we win next weekend I'll probably forget about it. Don't have a good feeling about next weekend though. Auburn yes A&M no.
