So, for those who are quick with the playoff matchups, who are we projected to host in Round 1? Looks to me like an SEC team. I would absolutely love to see them boys come up here in December!

I was talking to a player yesterday
and he does not like the timing of the playoff 1st round... weekend after finals. He said we (the players) have to choose between passing and winning.

Do they ever make concessions for the players by moving the dates up or back?

PSU’s ceiling is gonna be likely as the 7 seed. They won’t go to conference champ game. 5 & 6 seeds likely go to Big Ten & SEC runners-up.

Here’s how I would seed Tuesday night with current conference leaders as bye holders or with *.

1 Oregon*
2 Tennessee*
3 BYU*
4 Boise*
5 Ohio St
6 Texas
7 Georgia
8 Indiana
9 Penn St
10 Alabama
11 Notre Dame
12 SMU*

But of course, it’s dumb to do bracketology now cuz there’s far too much time left. It does show that even with 12 teams, it’s still a tight window.

They’ve been making concessions for players since scholarships started way back. This isn’t directed at you, just my frustration for giving people who can run fast or throw a ball special treatment. They can study and practice all at the same time. All the while cashing NIL checks. It’s a good real life lesson. Multitasking. Sorry for the rant.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Boise St can't be inside the Top 4. That's reserved for the Big 4 Conference Champions.

Based on AP, first round would be OSU v Boise, PSU v Mississippi, Indy v Bama, and Tennessee v ND. First listed would host games.

I think you are correct. I have heard the XM guys say they will most likely be 12.
They can if they finish ranked higher than ACC or XII champ which is doubtful. Most likely the seed at 12.

Based on today’s AP, teams getting first round byes would be ducks, horns, byu, and winner of ACC (probably SMU or Miami).

Did the player you were talking to actually come to play school?

This thread looked like the best place to post this. This Saturday has a massive game for playoff implications.

7-1 Tennessee v 6-2 Georgia

If Georgia loses, they might be on the outside looking in.

IMO, it’s only “might” because it’s UGA and an SEC school.

The fact that they would have played 4 top 10 schools would have a little something to do with it. Their schedule is insane, especially when you add the non-conference game against Clemson.

I stand corrected. I’ll admit, I did not look at their schedule.
Thanks.

I really hope that the schedule strength plays a big role...is beating up on this year's ACC/Big 12 and coming out with 2 losses better than a team like Georgia that could have wins over a top 5 and a top 15ish team, and then losses to 3 top 10 teams? I know which team I'd rather avoid in a playoff game (and thus who might be the more deserving team).

For context, with today's AP rankings, they've won @ #3 Texas, won on a neutral (in Atlanta) against #17 Clemson, and lost @ #9 Mississippi and @ #10 Alabama. And then they play #6 Tennessee at home on Saturday.
