Where the hell did this "we play well on thursday nights" myth come from?

Last 5 thursday night games:

2007 vs L LSU (45-0)
2006 vs L SoCar (15-0)
2003 vs L Ole Miss (31-0)
2002 vs L Ole Miss (24-12)
2002 vs L Auburn (42-14)

That's about as bad as it gets. Some of those games are our worst losses the last decade. I just lost some wool.

I think what you haev been hearing is that home teams fare well on Thursday nights. We are an exception to the norm. I believe I saw it was something like 80% win percentage for the home team on Thursday night games or some crazy number like that.

His articles are still one of the best parts of the BDJ subscription.

Reading him reminisce about the 90's, and to see him in tears on Saturdayis quicklyerasingany poor feelings I had over the clusterfucks of 2001-2003. </p>

we also lost to USC on Thursday night.. first college game after 9/11. If I remember, we were ranked above USC around 15 or so.

It was a home game, and I think USC arrived into the Golden Triangle only a couple of hours before gametime... everyone was scared to death to fly.

So "we play well" means what? We lose, but keep it close?

No matter what day of the week it's on. And to total up Croom's scoring average in Thursday night games, I believe we were shut out each time we played on Thursday night under the walrus. God I miss that man.

Where the hell did this "we play well on thursday nights" myth come from?

because we beat Florida on a Thursday way back in 1992, and then we had some nice Egg Bowl wins in 1998-1999 as well as a come from behind win in 1999 against UK in 1999 on a Thurs.

I do agree that based on recent history it is more myth than truth.
