My Ole Miss wife bought us tickets for the Auburn game in Feb. I usually come to State for the day, so I have no clue where to stay. Would love some suggestions on where to stay and eat. I was thinking downtown might be fun.

I've stayed at both and would recommend either to anybody. Chester is right in the middle of downtown, which is handy. Comfort Suites is a short walk from the Hump.

Ahh, the memories.

I used to work there as a student at MSU. It was called the Statehouse Hotel back then.

Maybe I'll stay there the next time I go to Starkville. For old times sake.

It was nice then. Sounds nicer now.

I'm sure it was the "Statehouse" and not "State House" though. One word. I worked there and remember that distinctly.

Hotel Chester History

From 1993 to 1998, the property was operated as the Statehouse Hotel with an associated restaurant. The Hotel also included four one-room offices which front Main Street. All these offices were vacant during that time period. Parcel 1, the old State Theater building, was infrequently used for meetings. Other than the Statehouse restaurant and associated kitchen, no auxiliary services or facilities were located on-site. During 1998, laundry for the facility was processed in the projector room of the old theater.

Mugshots for Burgers a block away from you.

If you are driving, try the Veranda.

I have done my best to like Resataurant Tyler and have had horrible service and only decent food there.

the shrimp and grits were as good as I've had at Mr. B's on Royal. Vereanda is solid, no complants from me about that place but it has yet to knock me out.
