This is what Nebraska truly needs at the QB position and it's competition. Yes someone may leave but that means it leaves Nebraska with a very good QB in charge. I just don't think Lateef will leave if he doesn't win the the starting job because he knows the job is his after the 2026 season when Raiola leaves for the NFL.

Lateef will learn so much under Glenn Thomas and Dana Holgorsen for a few years and it gives his body a chance to mature physically and ready himself for a run at the pro level later on. Then next up will be our next great young QB, Trae Taylor who will back up and learn and hopefully will Nebraska will have started to get a handle on building solid offensive linemen or getting them through transfers and NIL.

Let's hope Matt Rhule can get this Nebraska truck that's been stuck in the mud out of the ditch and moving again and start beating those teams that have been a thorn in our side for far to long. GBR!

I think that’s why some people are so reluctant to let go.
I refuse to say TJ is better than Dylan in general, but in regards to what Nebraska has for overall offensive team talent and abilities, TJ is the better choice. If we had an outstanding pass blocking O Line and receivers that could get open more then it might be Dylan.

I agree. “Better” is subjective. Dylan has talent, I think only a fool would try to argue against that. But like you’re saying, what talent fits us better. That’s TJ by a long mile, IMO. I like what TJ does more than I like what Dylan does.

TJ Lateef can play with less while Dylan requires more to be successful at least it seems this way to me. Now going forward if Rhule can add the right pieces on the OL and DL during the offseason this team will do fine under Dylan. If Rhule doesn't add much during the offseason then Lateef needs to be a serious contender at starting or this team will not progress it will be just wash, rinse and repeat. Same old story. jmo

Bottom line is TJ has wheels which DR lacks. This makes us 2 dimensional instead of 1 in the running game. TJs running ability also opens up the passing game. More defenders have to play the running threat which frees up our receivers more. Being equal, TJ tips the scales in his direction

I think TJ

I think TJ "might be a better fit for how Nebraska "needs" to play. I think with Dylan they wanna be a bit more dynamic and throw it around a bit more. But with TJ they seem to have focused in on being a more dominant run team and truly embraced it.

May be one of the few times that Dana truly embraced being a predominantly run team. Honestly our team is better suites to do that. At least this year anyways.

I thought TJ performed well. I also think the gameplan was perfect and defineable. I'm not over reacting like some fans will after one nice road win. We will get a much better picture in these next couple weeks of who TJ truly is. Then if need be we can have "the " conversation ". Let it play out week to week and at the end we will have a much clearer view of who TJ is and who this offense needs to be.

I hope he does, for his sake. I think his best path to the NFL as a high draft pick is at another program. At a program that has NFL draft caliber OL, Dylan can stand there all day thinking.
I dont. I wish for DR to become more focused on his footwork. Work on the quickness of his release. become more confident to lead his receivers appropriately on crossing routes, work on spinning a tighter spiral, and sacrifice his nutritional habits. these are the attributes that will help this team and will help DR become a professional QB.
Early on i mentioned that DR does not have "elite" arm talent. he has many other skills that serve his game very well though. He can elevate his game if he doesnt surround himself with yes men.
Early on I had mentioned that TJL has many of the skills that a very good Collegiate FB team needs--quick release, very very mobile, keeps his eyes down field, quick review of his progressions. Runs the play or fixes it if there is an obvious need.

Dylan cannot hit the deep ball. It doesn't matter what pieces you give him if your offense is always conducting itself as if it is in the red zone.
