I don't see Cowher going to the Cowboys. I don't see the Chin hanging around at taking too much of Jerry Jones' crap.

That was more wishful thinking on my part. I'm a Boys fan, and whoever we get, I see it being a big name, and I think that Jones is regretting letting Garrett hang around. That's why I threw him out there. But hey, Gruden could end up a Cowboy since he's worked for a psycho owner before.

What is Gruden's connection to ND besides he is a good coach? Catholic? Did he attend ND? Chucky could name his NFL gig next year if he wanted to so I just don't understand the ND rumors. Thanks for the smartass response I'm sure that will be coming.</p>

I'm not sure how well he'd cope with Double J's crazy-assed antics after having an owner in Bowlen who would have taken a bullet for him (except for missing the playoffs 3 years in a row. Friendship has its limitations). Besides, the offensive Ivy-League ginger genius might be let go if that happened (disclaimer: I base all my Cowboys staff knowledge from KSK posts. Yeehaw). As for him going to the Jaguars. That would be ironic, since they've screwed the Broncos several (2? 3? ,RF@A help me out here) times over the last decade, including this wasted mind<17> of a season.

Valid question. I had to look it up myself earlier today. He was once an assistant at Notre Dame, and they could be competitive with most NFL jobs if they wanted to. I think it'd really come down to his preference, and who knows what that'd be...

This is a conspiracy theory- what if ND is waiting until Tebow leaves at UF and then try to nab Meyer from UF at the end of next year? Meyer used to be an assistant under Bob Davie. They did extend Weiss's contract one year. Plus, Meyer has nothing left to prove at UF. ND could offer him a Saban-esque contract and it probably would be easier to win at ND where you have to play the service Academies and Michigan vs the SEC.

it's easier to recruit talent to Florida or Notre Dame? If it was so much easier to win at Notre Dame, how is it they haven't won a national title in 20 years?

As to your schedule suggestion, Notre Dame played 6 bowl teams last year. The year before that, they played 9. The year before that they played 7.

it is easier to recruit to Florida simply because there is a wealth of high school talent in that state but Indiana isn't producing a fraction of the same talent. Notre Dame is forced to look coast to coast, Florida can let those kids come to them.

I can assure you that ND's schedule is not easy, like HD pointed out. It's usually one of the toughest in the nation. They usually play 2-3 creampuffs a year, just like everyone else. In addition, the days of ND as some mystical power are pretty much over, thanks to the disastrous coaching hires made after Holtz. Willingham basically destroyed what was left of the program. I'm not a big fan of Weis either, but he's at least marginally better than Ty The Program Killer. ND came back to the pack 15 years ago. There is no way in hell Urban would leave UF for the cluster-17 that is Notre Dame now.
