They may have the most prolific offense in the state, with at least an average defense.

RIce's PF/PA is 336/134.

For comparison's sake:

LA: 308/104

Flyer: 286/41

HF: 323/84

Fourth in 8A behind Loyola, Palatine and HF. Their defense is too suspect for me to rank them any higher.

I think Rice is going to beat LA in a good game, but I think they would have problems with the athletes at HF.
What will Rice get bumped up to if the beat LA?, how about if they lose, where do they end up in the rankings? Any thoughts?

IMO the PF/PA is a problematic comparison, unless the teams you are comparing all played against the same teams. Yea it's useful, but... I agree with poster who has them #4.

I think a lovely Bismanti rice goes well with chops or veal.

I would put them 4 for now behind PAlatine Loyola an HF.

i've thought a lot about their defense too, and have dropped them a bit for it. that said, they've only had two - let's call them bad, games defensively. They gave up 44 to crete, who has a high scoring offense (in a game where points are skewed because Rice scored 61 - giving crete a lot of possessions). The other game is MC. RIce gave up 42 to MC.

Other than that, PC scored 21 and the rest are one score games.

Rice's defense is not as bad as i thought.

Do you eat Private Label rice?

i always go white rice at chipolte. I've never understood the brown rice move there. The white rice tastes way better and has a natural consistency of being "sticky." The brown rice offers very very little in the way of being healthier. very little.

No matter what team you are playing, giving up 40 pts on defense is bad.

Brown Rice Matters!!! I don't think you could possibly understand the anti-oxidants brown rice has just to be on the menu at Chipolte.

Ok I like my rice steamed, white but prefer mashed potatoes. and I have rice 2nd haven't seen NV so they could be swapped. While HF has some talent not sold on the team. Watch them verses LWE and east should have beat them

But they didn't.... in the other hand rather lose week 3 than week 10 or 11.

Besides who cares, you guys get too caught up in rankings. What counts is winning the championship. And defense wins championships

The real question is what about Rice? Stinky? Brown? Dirty?

The winner of the Loyola-Brother Rice matchup will be #1 in 8A. The loser will likely be the highest seeded 8-1 team at around #89 or #9 overall. There could be 7-8 9-0 teams in 8A including one of Loyola/BR, one of Barrington/Palatine/, HF, Hinsdale Central, Neuqua Valley, Oswego, and St. Charles East. West Aurora could be 9-0 as well.

Well said. And I don't know that I agree that "East should have beaten HF" in that prior meeting. HF's defense really stepped up in the second half of that game, and East was still in the "growing pains" of the 2 QB offense. Whether East would win the re-match is a different story. They are 2 very evenly-matched teams. I think HF's defense will surprise people come playoff time. They have a lot of speed on defense (as well as all the speed on offense).
