Which defense would you love to see us run this year?

We have so much depths at the LB position and so many tweeners, what defense would you like to see us run to maximize athleticism on the field. I would want anything that has the Brown bros., Wells, and McKinney on the field. Whether Wells is playing a dawg safety in a 3-3 or a flex LB in a 3-4. I think NJ could handle the NG position with CJ and Smith locking down the ends. McKinney could put a hand on the outside and create havoc on obvious passing down. I think this would be effective against the spread because of the athletes on the field, however when Bama and Arkansas line up against us we are going to need a little more beef up front. I would like to see us run some 30 dime in third and really longs and disguise LB blitzes.

N/A...

I want to see us use our hybrids correctly -- thus being multiple inside of basically all of our personnel groupings. The advantage of the "hurry up" is the prevented substitution, thus allowing exploitable mismatches... If you've got hybrid DL/LBs, hybrid S/LBs, all of which can cover when necessary, hybrid DE/DTs that are too fast for guards and too strong for tackles, you can adjust to whatever the offense wants to throw at you without actually changing players on the field.

This is why we improved so drastically against the Malzahn and Freeze spreads last year(and against aTm although it doesn't heavily show on the stat sheet thanks to Johnny) -- and I think we're going to be significantly better this year...

I hope you didn't spend too much time thinking about this post. Any defense that you prefer over the base package that doesn't include Redmond as the nickelback is just foolish.

If we go with a 3 man front I wouldn't want James as the nt just yet, from all accounts he still has a way to go. PJ at nt and Jones at de in a 3 man front. I'd like to see a 5-4-5 with smith, jones, eulls, jones, brown up front, wells, mckinney, brown and brown, love, Calhoun, cox, Hughes and redmond.

I know. I can't think of another time where we didn't have enough positions to play this many good players.
