There is plenty of Duke hate to go around. Who has been the object of most of your Duke hate?

This year could possibly be Coach K's best coaching year too.... This year's team is probably the least star studded of any team he's ever had and he's in the driver's seat of the NC...

I'm not a Duke hater by any means... I definitely get tired of reading/watching them... but you have to respect Coach K and the way he does things.

Vitale and everyone else praised how good he was going to be when he was a freshman playing with Reddick and Sheldon Williams, but all I saw was an immature whiny little prick who wasn't that good. After those two graduated he was exposed as the little ***** he was, he was getting abused on the court, he couldn't score or lead the team and ended up getting benched as a senior.

Reddick was my second most hated cause he always disappeared down the stretch of big games.

In the end, I had to go with "at least Laettner went to Duke. His arrogance was sickening, but he actually made the shots when he had the chance... You might even say he 'played in it'.

I have no idea where Vitale's love affair with them started... He went to Seton Hall, coached at Rutgers and Detroit. To my knowledge, he never had anything to do with Duke University, so in this poll he's the PTP'er (prime time phellater).

I think every sport needs a villain who is good. I think that the rise in Duke hatred happened when UNLV took a downturn and the UNLV hatred happened when Georgetown took a downturn. The Duke hatred has had ESPN and Vitale to sustain it for nearly 2 decades.

May just be me but he acts like a big baby. Everything he does is so dramatic. He seems to always be flailing his arms and complaining to the refs.

I think it's Jay Bilas hands down. I would say Dick Vitale, but he really has no connection to Duke, other than blowin' them every time they play....

You have to respect what they represent in college athletics. They win and they do it the right way with kids that actually go to class and are mostly successful after basketball. That being said....I can't stand Zoubek either. He just seems like a dirty player that willhit you in the face and then whine to the ref that you fouled his elbow.

I wish I had some stats to refute your JJ hatred. In the last games of his four seasons (the four NCAA losses), JJ was 14-60. That's 21% from a career 43% shooter. I think part of it was he seemed to run up against some really athletic and long defenders in those games.

Singler, Scheyer, Smith, Plumlee, Plumlee...how are these guys not 'star studded'? ESPECIALLY the first 3? What the heck do you have to do in your book to be considered a star? The Plumlee brothers arent producing high numbers, but they arent after thoughts by any means. Thats why i included em.

Seriously, what more should Singler, Scheyer, and Smith do to be stars in your book?

As for the program...
--They signed 9 MCD-AAs in the last 4 years.
--They have 6 MCD-AAs on the team this year.

Seems pretty star studded to me.

is where my hatred lies. every pivotal call or non-call in the last 5 minutes of a game will go their way. you can take that to the bank. sometimes i think it's the product of K bullying the refs all game, sometimes i have no idea where it comes from.

For some reason, I don't hate Duke anymore. I've actually started to respect them. I can't explain it.

However, I am pulling for Butler tonight because a Mississippi State fan has to pull for the team tha never won the title. It gives us Hope. Also, I just always like too see a new team win a championship.

Duke represents not only what is good about college basketball, but college in general, IMHO. Never really hated a Duke player but JJ Redick got on my nerves when he was there. Nothing against him personally there was just something about him that made me pull for his shots to get swatted into the 12 row.

Thanks to the two (so far) a-holes who voted for me. My guess is Costanza and Coach.

I voted for Shachefski. He is the root of all evil, a gigantic ******* and a hypocrite. And he looks like a goshdamn rodent. He just needs some whiskers.

#2 is that punk ***** Laettner. 1992 was a phantom title and a farce, since he should've been thrown out of the Kentucky game after stomping on Timberlake.

You're alright in my book. Most of the time.

He got a tech for that which was all he deserved. He didn't exert enough force to pop a balloon. Timberlake jumped up clapping as soon as it happened. Tech - yes. Ejection - no way.

They would have found a way to win it anyway. 92 was Hurley's team by that time.

the force applied determines tech vs ejection? Interesting. How many newtons of force are required for an ejection?

I suppose if you throw a punch at a guy, but miss, then nothing should happen?

Spoken like a true Dook homer, especially the "they would've won anyway". That's a load of crap and you know it. There was still like 9 minutes left in regulation, and he was a vital player.

Yes, the result is important. If thae guy that punched Bost in the nads had missed, he would still have a scholarship. Laettner didn't miss of course, and he got exactly what he deserved. To think differently is blind hatred.
