Which is better?

Would you rather be 11-1 or 12-0 in a conference like Boise State every year or be 8-4 or 7-5 in the SEC every year? It must be fun for Boise State fans to know they are going to kick the crap out of nearly everyone they play each year.

Would rather play in the SEC. If you're consistently good, you'll always have those games you win against the best when you're not supposed to and you'll be able to dream about that perfect storm of a season when you win the SEC and play for the whole thing.
At a place like Boise, all you can dream about is being a good story, but still an also-ran.

On one hand, if you go 12-0, you've got a shot at going to a BCS bowl, which would be great. It would be great to know you're going to kill your opponent almost every week. However, it would be a little hard to get fired up about playing Utah State and Idaho.

I think being a consistent bowl team in the SEC is a much harder task, and I would feel more satisfaction of establishing that sort of program. Plus, it's more interesting and exciting to be playing Alabama and LSU every year than WAC teams. And knowing you have to be at the top of your game every week, or you could still get beat even by the bottom SEC team, makes the atmosphere so much more electric at each game.

if 8-4 was an average season, i'd definitely take it over boise's 11-1. if it was where we capped out, i'd take the 11-1

On the one hand, Boise State gets to good bowls and gets alot of publicity. On the other hand, if they drop off even a little bit then they may not even get a bowl bid. It is kind of nice to have about 4 or 5 big SEC games to get for also as opposed to playing Fresno State.
I am still thinking on this one.
