I know our fan base that is 70 and older is going to vote for 1:30 because it's just tooooo cold to play a night game in October AND because this is the way we have always done it, therefore we should not change it. These are the same people who say that Croom is going to turn the program around!!!!

always makes me wonder if the teams in the big ten have fans that get sand in their vaginas over early starting times too. I somehow doubt that the OSU fans sitting in the horseshoe at noon eastern every Saturday are complaining like our dumbass fans do about early start times. I don't think Michigan has played a game yet that started after 2:30 Mississippi time.

Don't you have something else you can ***** about? Quality of the team? Your wife not being able to go to the games anymore because of the no dog rule? Something....anything....other than the time the game starts.

....is that a lot of their stadiums don't have lights....OSU's stadium does not have lights, they have to contract someone to order them for night games. That's why they have only had 2 night games in the past 2 years (Texas and Michigan). Same with Purdue and Kinnick Stadium at Iowa. I read somewhere that only like 2 big ten teams have lights in their stadium. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is why they don't have too many night games.

and it's cold as **** at night up north......Pretty advanced concept, read up in any weather book and I'm sure it will tell you why it gets colder at night in the north than in the south.

I simply wonder if their fans ***** and complain about stupid stuff like ours do. I guess they probably do, but I doubt it gets to the stupidity level of what time the games start.

I lived in Ohio for 4 years, it's definitely not "cold as ****" in Columbus in September and October (you know, the months the games up until now have been played in). In fact thanks to weather.com I can tell you the average high/low in Columbus in September is 78/55.

Have you become the early game police or something? Why are you so offended that people don't like early games? Do late games effect your livelihood or something? Damn.

that fans of schools like Indiana, Baylor, Washington State, Duke, and any other losing programs do indeed ***** about this, while fans at Oklahoma, USC, LSU, Texas and others don't care.

but I don't think they are all put out being the CBS national game as often as they are.

That's the other thing. When you win, you get preferable TV slots.

When I go to a game, I prefer the night games When on TV and since Croom has us so competitive, I prefer us to play the early game so I can watch a good game in HD at night.

I was at the Shoe two weeks ago and noticed the lack of light. They have lights on the front of their upper deck, but no huge lights for the upper deck or endzone seating. They don't have lights at the stadium because they don't see the need to spend the extra cash for them when they sellout every day game - besides its kind of their tradition to play football at noon.

Columbus may be cold compared to Mississippi in Dec and January, but Ohio has great weather the other 10 months of the year. It was perfect weather for the Minnesota game.

OSU fans are completely different than State fans. I actually enjoyed watching the game around most of them.

ESPN has the rights to every game (minus the ones CBS gets)

Having the rights does not mean they will put them on

Did the agreement not say that every SEC home game, regardless of opponent, would be televised in some capacity? I could have sworn that was true. Now, that doesn't say that it may not be some sort of pay package for some, but I'm pretty sure that is what was said.

I know, I hate them just like the next guy but we seem to either play good or BE LUCKY with the eleven o'clock games. i.e. last year Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss. If it takes getting our asses up early Saturday for a Win I'm all for it........... ah who'm I kidding

Texas doesn't care because Austin is a party town from Friday thru Sunday night when there is a home game. Most of the time ABC gets the game put on in the afternoon, so they don't have much of a choice. Whenever they don't have a national broadcast game it ends up in the early evening between 5 and 7. They would prefer late afternoon and night games because it is still 90 or better till the middle of October, but they survive on more beer after the game.

CBS gets 1st pick and the 2:30 time slot.
ESPN will syndicate an 11:00/11:30 game.
ALL other games will be televised on an ESPN family network, and word is they will ALL start 6:00 PM central or later.

many of the fans I know would rather them not be on TV than to have a day game...of course, many of these people go to the games...but they fully believe in the nighttime mystique...and they are scared to death to play Bama and Georgia during the day

hell, I really can't tell much difference on game or non-game weekends.

The point however, is that yes, even the teams of big time schools hate early games.

If ESPN is anything like what it's been for the Big Ten, MState, OM, USC, Vandy, Kentucky, will all be on the 11 AM game. Get used to it.

in Starkville when I was a kid, and it was hot as hell in early September. Was that game moved for TV?

In a perfect world, all home games would be at 6 p.m. and all away games would be on JP in order to neutralize the crowd with 90 degree temperatures, direct sunlight, and hangovers.

I say make them all 6pm.

Up to the end of October, most people have kids playing sports. Moving the games back to 6 gives them time to attend their kids game and make it to Starkville.

November, you have the peak of deer season. 6pm allows those who want to hunt in the morning time to get to Starkville.

Most teams/universities could care less about KO times because the deman is so high for tickets. However, State needs to do every thing we can to accomodate fans.

With all that said though, it doesn't matter what we fans want. TV will dictate KO times more and more in the future. Like Mutt said, I am afraid this deal with ESPN will mean even more 11am KOs to not compete with the 2:30 CBS games and primetime ESPN games.
