I have been saying this forever. The Maroon White chant takes out half the crowd noise. I'd much prefer everyone chanting the same thing. I know it's copying LSU but just chanting MSU MSU MSU sounds soooo much better and intimidating. Who cares if LSU already does it. It sounds good.
I HATE the maroon...........white cheer. I've hated it since I was a kid. It's embarrassing when others hear us do it. It's downright silly, redundant , boring and redundant!
No surprise that dawg51 doesn't like something awesome. Y'all are a bunch of pussys. Maroon white sounded great the whole time.
I've got to admit, I'm not a big fan either. I wish we had something else that sounded good. However, it does get the fans involved and I'm all for that.
Every school's cheer is silly, redundant, boring, redundant if you look at it. LSU spelling T-I-G-E-R-S. Really? That's all you've got? But it's a great cheer. Arkansas Woo Pig Sooie. OK, we get it. Your mascot's a pig. Stupid cheer. But it's great. Auburn's War Eagle. WTF does an eagle have to do with anything? Are you people retarded? But it's a great cheer. Same for Maroon-White.
I'm fine with it, but I don't like us doing it during a pressure at bat for one of our guys. It's like doing the wave when your team is on offense. We have really stupid fans.
Maroon/White cheer needs to start slow and then get faster each time
I think the pitcher gets in sync with the crowd because the cheer stays the same monotonous pace. If the crowd sped up the cheer each time you said Maroon/White it would be more effective in taking the pitcher out of his timing. My opinion.

I kind of agree. The only thing it has going, and its a good thing, is the level of crowd participation.
Hail State would be a good replacement.
I lobbied to the cheerleading staff to use "THIS IS.... OUR STATE". Like Ole Miss's "We Are - Ole Miss", except obviously its "This Is - Our State". I think that would play real well. I think the the crowd would buy in and it would catch on quickly.
I understand all that. But you have to admit, there's a little more to those than our "Maroon!...............White!" over and over and over again. I guess I'd like something to go along with it. "Maroon!....White!...(something here)...Maroon!...White!...(something else here)! Just my opinion.
The M-W cheer actually disrupted their pitchers a few times, whereas anything else we did they totally took in stride. Not saying it's a great cheer or anything but it worked.
Well, I agree with that! Just the fact that we have loyal fans who travel so well and are willing/able to chant anything, in sync, at an intimidating volume is awesome in itself. I never argued that point. AND, I prolly used some "in the moment" words in my first comment (HATE, embarrassing, etc). It was 1:50am and I possibly may have had a beverage or two earlier. I dont HATE that cheer.....its just my absolute least favorite of all MSU cheers/chants. That is all. Now, Let's go take this m17er!!!! "MAROON!.............
Reminds me of the early '80's when they added "Bulldog Blitz" to the end of it and the caped crusader led it, THAT was embarrassing
I've been thinkin on some. It is close to "Fall Uni Talk" season. I've also been thinking about a tricked-out basketball court design (like Oregon's).....but, I've been rebranding Choctaw County High School. So that's taken the majority of my free time. I've thought about posting some of those designs/logos here to see what yall think.
You missed part of the point though... We could be twice that loud if everyone was cheering together. Instead, the Maroon White cheer has us split up... Kinda like the student section at the hump.
I wish we could find another way to start the maroon white fight fight fight chant. Not a fan of a handful of college and grown men singing the tune that leads to they "Hey go State!" Da da daaaa daadaa daadaaaaa, da da daaaa daadaaaaa daadAAAA DAAdaaaaa. Surely there's a better way.

I love it when it starts. I hate it when it dies out. The problem with the cheer isn't that it sounds bad or is redundant. It's that it doesn't have an ending. It just peters out when people get tired of it and it sounds weaker and weaker until it's done.
It needs structure and an ending, so that no matter who heard it or where you were - in the middle of a restaurant at a bowl game or in line for general admission tickets - any State fan could pick up and go with it and it would end STRONG. Listen to G-E-O-R-G-I-A or Rammer Jammer or god forbid that little rhyme about hot toddies... they work as cheers because they have structure.

All cheers are simple.. But it's the fact that we never change it up that gets old and annoying. Maroon... White is fine but we need more. Our fans are smart enough to change it up every few innings. Maroon (one side).. white (other side).. fight (in unison)... Another one is MSU MSU MSU over and over again. Or why not use our newly found slogan Hail (one side) State (other). Simple **** like that works but by god lets get some variety next season.
Last night it ended when they threw a pitch, and most of the time it was a ball. I can't believe we're complaining about this.
