....the first was the week prior in Fayetteville, a non-televised game. As you may recall, in late 2001, Madkin went down, leaving Fant as the only active scholarship QB, because Kyle York was a redshirt. So we took Fant and York both to Fayetteville, hoping that Fant wouldn't get injured so we wouldn't have to burn York's redshirt.
So somewhere later in the game, Fant takes a hit and goes down. State fans all look at each other, worried. Is York going to have to burn the redshirt? Fant makes it to the sidelines....then Sherrill sends in Joey Judge at QB....nobody notices Ray Ray in the backfield. Judge splits out wide, and the ball is snapped to Ray Ray for a gain of 15 yards. Next play, Fant comes right back in like nothing had ever happened.
Next week, we run the play in the Ole Miss game for a TD. This game is televised.
One week later, we ran the same play again against BYU. BYU had apparently watched the Ole Miss game, because Ray Ray was stuffed for a loss of two yards.
Three games, one play.....there you have it.
