after watching a beautiful sunset off the stern, I just got to thinking.....

Why hasn't anybody from the Ms papers interviewed Croom?

Is he not talking? What REALLY went down?

I'm hearing maybe it was a done deal before the Ole Miss game. I figure he's under a gag order to get all his money.

**** there's not much else going on to talk about. Which brings me to another *****.

Why don't schools do what they used to in spring practice? Practice for 2 weeks and then play the damn spring game.

Now they drag it out over a month. Hard to get into it when they practice every now and then.

Not sure... He's done a few national interviews, and he's reluctantly admitted he resigned... I really do doubt, though, that it was a done deal before the OM game. I think the score and the 37 yards of offense really decided that. Had we been competitive, I think he MAY still be our coach. (Or Coarch)

I always assumed that the payout of his buyout was tied directly to his silence, similar to a gag order, issued by the Ninja.

was that it was a done deal after the UK game. I think the Ole Miss beat down just made it easier on Byrne, although I doubt there would have been a lot of opposition from anyone really.

When he has been interviewed, it's always been pretty much, "It wasn't my fault, it was a bad situation, and I was promised seven years to turn it around, and they didn't uphold their end of the deal. It's better now than when I took over." That's pretty much a synopsis of what an interview would have been like.

I think in their meeting after the Egg Bowl, I know Byrne asked him about the direction of the program and about certain things like the offense, and changes there, but I don't think Croom could have said anything to make him change his mind.

But I'll tell you the thing that really surprises me the most about Croom and his staff is the laziness. I would have figured that a guy that played for Bear Bryant and was successful as a coach in the NFL- albeit a position coach- would be someone who was a very hard worker. Croom turned out to be one of the laziest coaches in the country. Maybe it was because he was in over his head, but I have to think some of it was because when he did play for the Bear, I believe Bryant let his assistants do much of the coaching while he sat in his now infamous tower watching everything. He would come down from time to time, sure but it was mainly guys like Ken Donahue running the show. Bryant was kind of old when he coached Croom and when Croom was one of his assistants. Maybe Croom tried to be too much like the crusty old Bear and not enough like himself.
