Whining about Winning

About 5-6 of you consistently whine and cry every weekend about baseball.
"-Lemonis and Gautreau can't coach."
-"Nobody can hit besides Tanner Allen and even he has a bad approach sometimes."
-"The pitching and defense aren't good in big situations."

You are all 17ing idiots. Only 4 losses all season against teams outside of the top 5. The Arkansas series was a big fat turd and the Saturday game against Ole Miss was a flop. It's baseball. If State just wins one game against Arkansas, they are currently tied with Arky for the best record in the West with a much easier schedule upcoming.

You just can't put it together all the time in baseball... nobody can. The 27' Yankees were swept in a 3 game series by Cleveland who finished the year 66-87. They also got shutout by a crafty Lefty (from the) Grove...

Last weekend was what you would expect from a couple of powerhouse teams, split the first 2 and home team wins the Sunday game. Last night was a great win.... When an umpire is calling balls and strikes like that, it's a crapshoot.

This is a top 5 team. The meat of the schedule is in the rearview. The Dawgs are going to close the season strong and might end up winning the West. Hitting is mediocre, but timely. Defense the same. Pitching is plus. Pitching depth is plus-plus. That makes for a dangerous team in the postseason.

So save your whining for football and basketball where it's more deserved.

It’s the SPS way for a few when it comes to baseball. Most of those you mentioned don’t know a thing about baseball and it shows. I’d venture to say a lot of the more negative posters never played past little league.

Most of them just think whatever we are doing, if it’s not working every single batter, then we should try the opposite. Perfect example is the vandy series. No one complained the first inning when we hit Rocker a little bit but then when rocker settled in suddenly we needed to start taking more pitches and we shouldn’t swing until at least 2 strikes. However, the very next day, you heard no complaints about us jumping on the Saturday pitcher early in counts.

30-10 #2 SOS

We are 30-10 with the #2 SOS in the country and the only teams not named Fairfield with a better RPI than us are Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

But uncoordinated people on this message board will always find something to whinge about.

The pessimism and negativity on this board couldn’t be more different than the heart and toughness of our baseball team. That’s what pisses me off. These “fans” don’t deserve this team.

So if you want to talk **** about State baseball on a State message board, I’m going to tell you what a **** fan you are.

I thought the approach against Leiter was complete opposite and better. We were 0-6 on first pitches put in play against Rocker. Got a lot more selective next game, and had Leiter up near 100 pitches by the 5th inning. Was 0-1 on first pitch against Leiter (Hatcher had a groundout). Getting to the bullpen was key that game and we did a good job.

It's a game of chance mixed with skill and momentum and just plain luck (both good and bad). It can't be controlled and I only hope we get hot at the end of the regular season at the right times and catch a few breaks.

I think the areas we aren't currently "top 5" in are painfully obvious. Hopefully that improves soon. We could make one hell of a run this year.

The approach against both of them was the exact same. We went up there and tried to hit from pitch 1. We hit leiter we didn’t hit rocker. That was the only difference. If I’m not mistaken, Rowdy hit the first pitch he saw in both games.

You are assuming only grown men post here.

kids should know better, but that’s on their Parents to teach them respect for others if they are guilty. Adults don’t get a free pass. What I suspect that we are dealing with here are actually adults acting like children. Hopefully some will do a little soul searching and realize that their passion for our baseball team has gone a bit out of control and re-channel that energy in a more positive way.
