There is a post on BDJ with an obviously older fan complaining about a whiskey shower in what I'm assuming is a westside section.... endless debate I know, but just wondering how everyone felt about it because its rampant in the student section and I've seen some but not as many older fans doing it as well over the years. I personally don't think its that big of a deal, the cups are empty by the time they hit anyone and if you're such a tight *** that a little liquid pisses you off after a bulldog score then your blood pressure is probably going to give you problems one day

As I said there..if you are so excited and wish to not hold your beverage anymore.....POUR THE 17'n THING OVER YOUR OWN DAMN Head
I didnt goto games to have to constantly turn around every time we scored to watch for flying cups and nor should anyone have to worry about stupid idiots not knowing how to behave.

Didnt someone get busted open pretty badly this weekend from someone throwing something at the game? I would say that is a big deal when yo have to have staples to close up a head wound.

As a student, if you don't like it, tough ****.

As an adult, nothing would piss me off more than you throwing your whiskey drink on my kids and wife.

i sit just below the student section and it inevitably(sp?) happens every game. and sure enough some of the old farts around look back at the student section like they are actually going to see who did it. definitely doesn't bother me because like you said an empty cup causes no damage.

also like to add that while sitting in the student section the most intense whiskey shower in my experience was in 2006 when wewere shut out the first two game and still didn'tscore till the 2nd quarter in the tulane game. when dixon plunged in it was whiskey shower pandemonium. 17 croom

I would have to agree with that. Really just wanted to see what everyone thought, keep it coming.Ive never done it, orreally even thought about doingit in the West Side... when in the student section I've always done it though if I didnt have too muchleft in my cup... 3 dollars fora coke set up aint no joke

Not to mention the 3 dollar drink. I cant stand the 17er's that do it and the SAE's near about got their **** rocked by a very large disgruntled guy that could start on our football team. I think a plastic bottle with cap on hit aroundhim and it had to be full cause it made a hell of a thud and didnt splash any liquid up. Guess I just like my whiskey to much to go throwing it away.

No one wants to be doused by your alcohol. No one wants to be sticky and wet for the rest of the game. <div>
</div><div>It's probably worse than people smoking in the student section, which also needs fixing.-- there are clearly stated rules, but they aren't enforced.</div>

I love the whiskey coke shower in the student section. If you complain about getting a little mix-drink sprinkled on you after paying 3 dollars to watch an SEC football game, then you have bigger issues to deal with beyond your damp shirt. However, if I'm with my family and paid real money for my seats then I would be furious. That kind of behavior should only happen in Red Stick.

and I would imagine that 5 dollars feels like more money to students than $40 a game for adults for many. That being said, I do like the whiskey shower, but people need to be a bit more careful and not throw full, capped water bottles and the like.

in the student section, grown up section, or anywhere else, not only should you spend the night in Oktibbeha County Jail, you should be banned from the stadium for at least a full season.

What kind of ******* throws their drink on someone else? I can't think of any circumstance where that would be acceptable.

I can't recall ever throwing a drink, but I'm not naive enough to believe it is going to stop anytime soon. I understand why it angers people, but hell, students are going to get rowdy sometimes. It happens.

Aleasta bit of it. Throwing a drink into a crowd is a complete dick move. I don't want to get doused by your drink. Period.

The poster on BDJ said it happened in Section C. That's not the student section.<div>
</div><div>Now, the culprit could have been a former student as we know old habits die hard.</div>

when State scores is that ok or is it not cool enough? In my opinion one is about as pathetic as the other. My advice is to be sure you do not get caught in the act by the wrong person. It could be really ugly.</p>

so, if we're doing something good, and someone gets excited and throws their cup in the air and some whiskey gets on me, it's not going to bother me. I've had worse spilled on me at the hospital. If it's a whiskey shower and State just did something really, good, I'm definately not going to care.

That said, if it is a visiting fan doing the whiskey shower, I'll probably get security to take the guy out.

Now, that said, I do remember sitting in the student section during the Oregon game in Starkville, and some frat boy got pissed and threw a glass whiskey bottle down the stands and it almost hit me in the head. That I have a problem with. If you're going to throw something, make sure it's something that has a low, low, low probability of hurting someone.

Guys, you dont understand. When state scores, I am excited. I raise my arms and welcome whiskey being thrown on me... but. Last night there were full drinks and 20 oz bottles that were thrown. There was a 2 year old kid, my buddies wife that was pregnant, amongst other small children. We sit about 6 rows below where the student section ends in section R.

I have been completely destroyed at games and tossing a cup is fun... but having had myself on a 1 game liquor suspension (only remembered about 3 plays of UAB game) I can tell you it is not cool... Hell I dont want to throw my whiskey, and parents out there, i would be pissed because you prolly bought that coke and that whiskey that was WASTED.

Yea, I sit in front of the fence on the east side... there is an older guy who's wife got smoked at the Memphis game.
So, every time we score, he turns around to see if he can see who threw it.
He's got that look on his face that says "If I was 30 years younger, I'd go up there & show them what-for"

You're right, $5 a game, but how many actually pay that? I would wager that most student tickets are payed for by daddy.

I agree about the capped bottles though.

Our seats are right below the student section. Just as the clocked struck 00:00, the team was celebrating on the field and folks were starting to file out, this lady came rushing through on the row in front of us. She was bleeding pretty badly on her hairline above her left eye. When I say bleeding, she left a trail of blood on the bleacher, on stadiums seats and on people and their clothes becuase she had to try to get out by walking the seats. Her husband was trying to lead her out and yelling for help. They went down to the field where stadium security and some Kentucky trainers started working on her.

Tossing a cup of whiskey alcohol is one thing. I don't care to be drenched in it, but it could be worse. But when a bottle is thrown, that person should get a mudhole stomped intheir ***.

Not sure what hit her in the head....it could have been a bottle that hit her just as she turned to head down the row. Or it could have been an accidental cowbell nailing. I doubt that was the case, however, because her husband would have probably not been as shocked about it. The way he was yelling, he was in disbelief of what happened.

I have no problem with whiskey showers, but when I see 2 glass bottles (one looked like a whiskey bottle, the other looked like a beer bottle) flying through the air, it pisses me off. How dumb do you have to be, no matter how drunk, to throw a glass bottle?

All i got to say is I see someone throw a bottle, at the very least he is getting thrown out of game. At worst, he is going to jail with quite possibly a *** whopping. You better not throw anything glass where I can see it.

And after a ridiculous back and forth game like that one, after JBanks missed about 5 big hits, that was all I wanted in the world was to ice the game and turn around and bask in the whiskey shower. Now, anything other than plastic cups of mixed drinks thrown after we score in the student section is ridiculous. Anything like fully bottles, <span style="font-weight: bold;">dip cups</span>, or class containers is unacceptable. That being said, I freaking love Johnathon Banks

Haven't been to a game since 2007, bought my tickets two months ago. Section R, row 17 and I thought I was doing really well. My wife spent that game smiling from ear to ear so excited to finally see those dawgs play ball. Clock hits 00:00, and I hear a thud, followed by a scream. My wife was hit by a plastic cup full of ice from an area above us. I bend down to check on her because she is doubled over and screaming. When she looks up her face is covered in blood and she is screaming.

Instinct kicks in and I just want to get her to the field. Everyone around us was in total celebration so I had to scream profanities and shove our way to the field. All I can tell my wife is "I'm sorry, it'll be ok". All the while she is screaming unable to see because of the blood covering her face. We make it through the field and to the first aid station where she is told that she definitely was going to have to have staples to close the wound. Three hours later, we are on our way home to Clinton with a bad taste in our mouths and 5 staples in her head.

You still think your "whiskey showers" are a good idea?!

If this was your wife, your sister, your mother, or your friend would your "Whiskey Shower" be worth it?

I know that the coward that did this will not come forward I just don't want this to ever happen again. If you have any information on who I can contact to help proactively stop this type of incident from happening again, contact me:
