There's something I love about firing up the smoker/grill when there's winter weather (although ice might change plans). Feels almost primal. I have a small prime rib I snagged when they had them on sale at Christmas, planning to smoke it on the kettle until about 125 then sear that bad boy.

Bleeping store was asking damn near seven American dollars for some Oreos, so Vacation Bible School cookies are having to make do for snacks.

I'll be on the Kamado grill with a smoked pork but and I'm making a huge pot of chili tonight. I plan on cooking eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, pancakes etc. on the Coleman stove. My wife has a rotisserie chicken she's making soup with. We won't starve. I'm just praying the power outages don't last too long, but whatever happens, I know somebody has it worse than me. The delta is probably toast.

I've got a 3 bone rack of dino ribs defrosting today. I plan on throwing them on the smoker tomorrow morning as the mid-south reverts back to the 1800's.

Wife made a large pot of chili last night. We stocked up on the necessities. Cookies and potato chips.

So THAT'S why the stores have run out of food.

Don't hate on the butter rings. I have a strong affinity for those. Pretty much all my grandmother could afford, although I had no idea she was poor when I was a kid. They are probably still 99 cents a pack.

Just threw my red beans in the crockpot with andouille, smoked sausage and neck bone. If the power goes out this weekend, I'll just cook up some rice and heat up the beans on my camp stove. If not, I'll probably just freeze it for later. For grilling, I only bought some brats. May do them tomorrow.

Rode my side by side behind the house for a little while. Time to kick back by the fire and relax. Pulled my Gentleman Jack out of the freezer for a little liquid snack.

Those cookies make me think of my mamaw. I’d have those and some sweet tea in my sippy cup.
