That black man would have been in for a rude awakening at my house. I had a mother who laid down the law and an older brother by two years who acted as enforcer. There were more fists flying than foot tapping. She packed a mean right cross too.

Clearly, not talking about my Mom. She took spanking to a whole nother lever. Extension chords, frying pans, broom handles, belts, and the dreaded, cut-your-own switch method!

Happy Mother's Day Mom. By the way, thanks for all those beatings you gave me to make sure I went to school; to make sure I didn't steal; to make sure I respected my elders; and to make sure I didn't do things that would either get me killed or locked up.

My mother demanded one thing over all others. I was not allowed to lie, or all punishment rules were off. Folks, you are really screwed if she looks you in the eye and you are not allowed to lie. No place to hide.

Yeah, that was a big no no for us. With regards to my Dad, we could get away with most anything but stealing and lies. One time, my baby brother caught an entire mountain on fire and got ice cream because he didn't lie to my Dad about it.

Because people with principles takebissuebwith the double standards, moving goal line, and make it up as you go mentality. What is and is not acceptable varies by race which is ironic considering the nonstop drum banging over racism and inequality.
