The only people I know that have had that kind of injury were older being the over 40 kind. Can you come back from a injury like this? I really do not care for our sake as much as for him. He had a special talent both reading the ball and laying the wood.

If he has surgery this week, he will be in a cast until probably January 1. I would think he could be 80-90% by March or April and go through some spring training drills at 3/4 speed (which I'm sure they won't take the risk). The problem is the last 10-20%. It seems like it is a full year getting your full strength, flexibility, and speed back. Now admittedly I didn't rehab like he will, nor did I need to get back on the same level. I tore mine at 25 years old playing Church league basketball. That was 1997 so maybe things have changed. It seemed like you recover the first 80% quickly, but it takes a long time to get the last 20%.

Edited to say he is doubtful to be full speed by August. Hopefully 95% by September 1, and 100% by October 1.

going strong after 1 year. If it is a clean tear it is better than if it ruptures or splinters. Clean tear they just stitch it back together and let it heal. More complicated if its all busted up. I hate that for him, he was playing great.

He should be ready to go by next year from what I understand about that injury. May not be 100%.

Will probably be in a boot for 6-8 weeks, then a lot of rehab. Definitely don't expect him to do much this spring. I've always heard you can start resuming normal activity after about 6 months, but it'll take a few more months to get all the strength back in his leg. Good news is it's not something that normally gets re-injured if you don't rush things.

I can still dunk on my son's 8 foot goal.

Seriously, the **** hurt. I would've cussed, but I was in a church gym playing church league basketball. I think I said something like "Horse Hockey!"
