While you're at it, blame the refs too. Just another pathetic example of people passing blame, awful example to set for the kids...seems to be a lot of that going around.

Maybe she should send her team out to a Hinsdale gym to practice like the boys did a few years ago so they can get better players

What is interesting is the view people have about her crying but, participate in a 30 page thread on here for 1-32 seeding in football. Not sure her complaint is any different from Football not being 1-32.

I can't believe she complains about it after how successful her teams have been. Absolute crap. That's embarrassing.

Why IHSA?

While I don't think the IHSA is trying to place WY in difficult bracket, why not eliminate any doubt?

The IHSA knows what schools are open in September, Why wait to setup brackets? Everyone qualifies for the playoffs anyway. Do it in September and avoid any acquisitions of wrong doing. "We have been doing it that way for years" is a weak excuse.

Within reason the same schools should/would be participating in the same regionals year after year. If a school closes, or has a significant change in enrollment, I could see where that would require slight changes, but again that could be determined in September.

Sign of the times Brin22. This kind of stuff really started to take off back around 1993-94 and really took root then. It was there before but nowhere near what it has become. It has really gone to new lows in the past 6 or 7 years too. I am just waiting for the magic word to come out.

Maxpreps 4A rankings, top 10 in order:
WY, Marian, Benet, Trinity, NT, Fremd, Huntley, Edwardsville, Stevie, Proviso E, Hersey

All but Stevie and Proviso E made the sectional final game. Keep in mind, since they're playing mid-week games, teams need to be place in regions, and the IHSA allows for some overlap.

She asks to host her own sectional. And she got 2 of the top 10 teams geographically located closest to her region.

In the state series there have been 4 50-point blowouts. All have involved CPS teams. Did she think she deserved only CPS teams? (WY regular season margin of victory over CPS teams: 9, 9, 54, 67, 18, 67, 53, 47, 25, 34, 39, 16.)

Irvin's Facebook post also noted her squad endured racial taunts from other teams' fans during the season.

"This year we were called 'ghetto.' We were called 'cheaters.' We were called various other things.

Allow me to add one: Out-coached.

I like to often call it the Venus and Sarena Williams syndrome. Always have an excuse ready for when you lose - never giving credit to the team you played.

She is very well known for berating officials, members of the media and anyone else that doesn't agree with her. At least she keeps it in the family as her hubby Nick at Morgan Park is just as bad.

Year in and year out she hand picks from her AAU teams the girls to play for her Whitney Young team. And the one year they aren't as good as they have been in the past its the IHSA's fault they blew a 6-point lead with under a minute to go. Its the IHSA's fault that Trinity beat them on their home floor, only to lose four nights later.

This sport needs more Tom Dineen's and less Corry and Nick Irvins.

If her complaint is the IHSA should have 1-32 (or whatever the total number of teams make the playoffs in each class) regardless of geography, then I agree with her. It should be done in all sports.

In this case both Trinity and Whitney Young are both top 20 teams so these two type of caliber teams would probably meet at this time in the playoffs anyhow.

The problem with the IHSA seeding is you can have 3-4 top 20 teams playing in the same regional and only one will advance. With the possible success factor next year you may see 3-4 of the nation's top 50 wrestling teams (Glenbard North, OPRF, Marmion and Montini) all squaring off in the same regional which is way too soon. They should be meeting downstate. If not then just cancel the rest of the playoffs after this regional.

This has been an ongoing issue for years within the IHSA and it crosses into EVERY sport in the state.

As long as the philosophy is that the IHSA wants "geographical representation" in its state finals, it will continue.

One point I do agree is that the sectional boundaries are drawn up well into each sport's season. The appearance is that the IHSA is gerrymandering these sectionals. I have personally accused them of doing the same in other instances.

But bottom line is that if you lead by 6, with under a minute to go, on your home court; you have no one to blame but yourself when you lose.

How about this whiny little guy?

Cahokia 62, Columbia 46: "We just had trouble adjusting to their length and
quickness in the first half. Lets face it, the IHSA has dealt us a tough blow
with the pairings, and I don't think they really care,'' Eagles coach Mark
Sandstrom said.

I have yet to find a sport which does not have a group of schools or coaches convinced the IHSA was out to get them.
