Whitson only played six quarters last season, and was still tied for second on the team in sacks with two. The leading sacker on the team was linebacker Nic Mitchell with 2.5. So Whitson tied for the most sacks by a DL and he only played six quarters before getting hurt.

I’m glad he’s back, real difference maker when he’s on the field.

Staying on the field is key, though. He’s only played in 6 games total in the last two seasons. Missed a lot of time his last year at Coastal Carolina, also.

But would rather have him than not, without question.

Got him a brand new spankin' ACL. I've heard newly repaired ACLs are stronger than the original. Glad to have him back. Now just get that knee (and the other) in game shape for next year! Don't see any need for him to play in the spring game. Just go through the work out stuff.

I hate on Pavia for his behavior and not his extended time in college athletics.
Same here, I can't stand him, but there's been plenty of hate all season on him about his extended college career so just reminding those that did it to STFU if they're happy about Whitson coming back again

Big difference in Pavia and Whitson. Whitson has had his last two seasons cut short by injury after playing four or fewer games. It’s normal for the NCAA to give medical redshirts for that situation and has happened plenty of times before. Pavia has never taken a redshirt at all but has played six years because of suing the NCAA that his JUCO years shouldn’t count. I have no idea why he would be eligible for a seventh year overall and fifth NCAA year because he’s never redshirted or been injured.

I've only seen Whitson listed w/ 3 seasons of JUCO (not 2), 1 year at Coastal and 1 year here so I'm not sure where they are getting 7 but that's what On3 article says
