These guys are playing like a team, passing, creating open shots, sticking up for each other, hitting threes, and driving to the basket and actually scoring! Hail Yeah!
In afraid they left and Mississippi State came back out to play. Maybe next year these guys will be a year older and can put together 2 full halves of this kind of basketball. We have a good class coming in too.
He did tonight. While Kennedy finally got his team to attack the basket down the stretch, it never seemed to dawn on Howland to tell his guys to do the same.
Exactly. We built our lead in the game by driving to the basket.
Then Ole Miss goes to that trapping zone and our guys stop driving and start jacking up long 3pt. shots. Which is exactly what Andy Kennedy wanted us to do...his team had no post defender to guard us in the paint, so he tricked us into long shots.
Howland never adjusted to the trapping zone. At UCLA his teams were known for basically playing fast break offense, running the ball down the court in transition. That style may work in the PAC 12 or on street ball courts, but in the SEC you need a half court offense and you're going to have to adjust to opposing defenses...and Howland flat out failed to do that tonight.
