...if a baseball game has passed the home half of the 5th inning and the home team is ahead, if the game is rained out, the home team wins. When did all this change? Is this just a college rule? SEC rule?

Pretty sure that's the rule in most conferences. Complete the game if you can. If not, go with the last completed inning after 5.

I'm sure that's "if they can't resume."

I guarantee you if the shoe were on the other foot, we'd all be raising as much hell as possible if Auburn just "called" the game. Now if this was the third game, or it was going to be storming all weekend, it'd be a little different.
