I had this discussion last night at the gym with an Ole Miss guy. He is convinced that LSU or Arkansas will win it no matter what. My opinion don't overlook anyone. There were 14 SEC schools but only two made it. There were 12 SEC schools that got beat at least twice. There are six other schools that either beat an SEC team or beat a team that beat an SEC team.

I marked Coastal Carolina. Looking at their team info (the past week) looks like they have the pitching poised to take it.
Especially in this field of teams, and the format in place.

If I were a betting man, I'd take Oregon State. But, the fact that everyone just assumes Arkansas is going to choke is crazy to me. Maybe they can get it done this time.

The complete randomness of the geographic distribution. Wild. Again.

Cue the year of the anti SEC bias. Chanticleers.

I see the current situation of Arkansas being very similar to the situation with us in 2021. Neither of us have won a NC. Both of us had played in the NC game and lost during that time period. It was our 4th trip to Omaha in the past decade and as a program, we finally found out how to navigate Omaha. You have to go there a few times in order to figure out how to navigate and win it, and that's what we finally did in 2021. Arkansas is making their 5th appearance in the past decade. I think they figure it out and finally win one. They are battle tested even more than LSU is at this point.

Although, they do have a tendency to choke and I don't really care one way or the other about pulling for the SEC. I think I'm pulling for Murray State and Coastal.

I agree - I think the “choke” factor is overblown. It’s not the same team. Everyone said the same thing about Ole Miss years ago and then they finally broke through and made it to Omaha. Then won the thing later on.

I’d pick Arkansas as a slight favorite, but I think their odds are too short to be interested in betting them. If they were closer to +300 or +400, I’d be more intrigued.

Problem with betting on Arkansas or LSU is they're both in the same bracket. Oregon St. and Coastal Carolina have an "easier" path to the finals.

Yes, I keep trying to talk myself out of the fact that they’re guaranteed to choke. But damn, DVH sure seems cursed…. And it truly couldn’t happen to a bigger POS.

Is DVH a POS? I know a lot of Arkansas fans are, but DVH seems like a decent bloke.

ETA: I still hope they choke because that is the funniest outcome.

Vitello came from his coaching tree, if that gives you any tips. He’s a whiner, for sure. The vid of him nervously wiping his upper lip after the easy out was dropped was vintage shít. Wes Johnson was seen in some of those, too.

One of Coastal, Arizona, Louisville and Oregon State has to be in the final right? So there’s your value.

If I had to put money on it, I would say Oregon State, but something else tells me UCLA. They have been great at winning it when it's a crappy year.

No. The left side is Oregon State, Coastal Carolina, Arizona, and Louisville. One of those will be in the finals.
$100 on each of those teams. Then you can hedge against it come final series if you'd like, or double down.

Arizona will come out of nowhere and win it all again, sorta like they did in 2012. IMHO, they got screwed by not being a host site.

No one. I mean, there was a fun pizza place there, the zoo was fun, and a joint that did ice cream, but that's all for the likes.

Roccos, the drover, and several other places didn't live up to it.

I like UCLA +850.

In the tourney so far:
  • 5-0
  • 4th in ERA
  • 4th in OPS
They get a 4-seed in game 1.

LSU/Arkansas could spend a lot of pitching/energy/emotion in their game.
UCLA is a really good team that is seemingly under the radar at least in this part of the country.

I'm of the same mindset with the LSU/Arkansas game. Both are going to expend a lot in game 1. It's likely they meet again as well. Potentially could play each other 3 times before the finals, if one of them make the final.

If I really needed to win the bet, I'd put it on either LSU or Arkansas and then increase that amount and bet more on the winner of their first game.

If it was just take a chance and throw a dart money, I like Oregon State at +650.

Really trimming out the SEC teams this year. Only 1 possible in the finals
