Who do you see the Bears taking with their first pick in 2017 draft?

No QB is worth #3 pick..

Pretty dogmatic statement. Not disagreeing with your overall sentiment that you can find them a little later, but how has that worked for the Bears for the last 50 years or so?

Was Andrew Luck not worth a top 3 pick? Peyton Manning wasn't? Philip Rivers?John Elway? Steve Young (supp draft)?

Not saying the Bears need to take a QB, but if you are sure you found your franchise QB you take him.

This thread is about 2017 draft, so that's what my post addresses. I am firm in my opinion that none of the big 3 QB's are worth the #3 pick. There is an outside chance someone can sell me on Kizer as he is the only one that has the ability to be a franchise QB but I don't think he ever realizes all his potential.

Of course those guys are worth the #3 pick. Any franchise QB is, if Bears think one of them is a franchise QB they need to select him. You can't reach and take an inferior QB just because you have lacked a franchise QB, maybe you wait till next year, maybe you settle for a game manager or a mid level QB but a QB isn't a franchise QB just because you took him at #3, no matter how bad you want him to turn out. You can win without one of those guys but you can't win with all the holes Bears have. Much bigger impact players at other positions.

Btw how are workouts at LT going? Despite our sparring I hear you boy is a great kid and wish him nothing but success even if it is back at LT ; )

2017 Bears' Draft thoughts

It's nice to get 3 of the top 67 prospects and 4 of the top 100 prospects as the drop off of floors and ceilings are noticeable every 10 selections or so.

Most don't want to take a QB with the #3 and I agree but that position has such huge inflation, you'll mostly never get value so Pace may have to. Mariota, Wentz, Goff may not be the answers but were picked so high because of that inflationary pressure on QB selections.

I don't believe in safeties much other than once in a generation talents like Reed, Lott, Easley. DCs' schemes are more important to safety play than talent. Earl Thomas as great, as good as he is, may be a result of having Sherman, Wagner and Chancellor helping him defend the pass.

That all being said, one route to the SuperBowl is the Giants way. If you can get pressure rushing 4 and dropping 7, all of a sudden pedestrian defenders become playmakers.

Take best player available and hopefully it is an interior D linemen, or edge rusher, or shut down corner, or Left Tackle in first round. Hybrid TE in 2nd round if it's best player available

They are comparing Adams to Lott FWIW.
