Who do you think Cohen will pitch in game 1?

This will be interesting, but I'm thinking he will go with Stratton only because he threw 2 plus innings. I see Routt in game 2 and if we make a game three it could be Jones with Stratton and Polly being in relief for game one or two for long relief. I see Reed only going one inning if needed for game 1.

Those two have proven to be the most consistent pitchers that give us a chance to win. Either one would be fine with me.<div>
</div><div>Going with Stratton would be ridiculous, considering he hasn't made it past the 5th inning in a few weeks. </div><div>
</div><div>Going with Jones would be the same overreaction to crowning Dirk better than Bird. Don't over-react to one game. Jones was phenomenal, but he's our 4th (or maybe even 5th) starting pitching option behind Pollorena, Routt, Stratton, and Graveman.</div><div>
</div><div>Reed needs to be stay in our bullpen.</div><div>
</div><div>The SECT is tough and you have to have a very, very deep bullpen to make it to Sunday or you have to be very, very lucky. We really need guys like Statz, Girodo, Mitchell, Stark, Norris, and Bradford to pitch well. If those guys don't have it, we're going to be in trouble.</div>

But I think he will probably go with Pollorena. I agree with your comments though.

I also would add Graveman as a possibility. He should be fresh, he has been pitching pretty well- against midweek competition, and he should be rested. That will give our regular starters an extra day to rest.

you almost have to win the first two games so that you don't get thinned out to much from a pitching standpoint.

That's what happened when we won it 2005- Alan Johnson and Todd Doolittle pitched their best games of the year, we came from behind to beat UT, and then we had a fresh Brooks Dunn for the SEC Championship Game.

Honestly, I would be just as shocked if we won it this year as I was in 2005. That is the first team that I have ever seen that had below average pitching, hitting, average defense, and no team speed, or rather willingness to run and actually end up winning the SEC Tournament. I still don't know how we did it. Thanks Jeff Butts!

The teams that want to win will win and the teams that think they should win won't. Baseball is an unusual sport because "want-to" seems to carry a lot of teams deep into the post-season as opposed to other sports. See our 2007 team for exhibit A.<div>
</div><div>As far as pitching goes, I think we are more likely to see Pollerena because Florida will be a very tough out and we need our best pitching. We have to be able to get past game 1 before we can worry about the rest of the weekend. Missouri is right in that your bullpen has to be incredibly deep to win these tournaments... or just lucky. We will see how it turns out, but we made the tournament and I honestly think any team has a chance to win it. Couldn't say that about years past.

I don't remember who pitched each night, but our Friday and Sunday starters had pretty good outings vs the Gators. I think it was Stratton that started the 18-0 blood bath on Saturday. Whoever pitched in relief in thatgame also gotshelled. I wouldn't be surprised to see Florida pitch someone other than their Friday starter that wegot to early.

Since they have more left handed batters than right handed ones I would go with Routt and use Pollorena in the first close game we have. Jones gave up 4 runs in 3 innings against Florida, and as someone already mentioned Stratton got dominated. From what I remember Routt had a good game against Florida. Another question is, do we see Hudson Randall again? I expect their Saturday starter to start against us. I think his name is Johnson.

</div><div>You go with your best pitcher, period. This team just got shelled 14-1 by Kentucky with their ace pitching. *#+@ them, we can win. Got to be Pollorena or Routt.</div>

As of earlier today, it was a dead heat between Pollo, Graveman, and Mitchell.

The debate was not only 1st game matchups but second game possibilities to try and give us the best shot at no worse than 1-2. That may mean give Graveman/Mitchell a shot on Wednesday and move Pollo to an as needed slot since he may be the most versatile

However, I am ok with Pollorena or Graveman

If you go Graveman, you are basically saying 3-3-3 and trying to squeeze it out ... whereas, Mitchell has a 50-50 chance of at least going 5 or 6 for you
