Let's say that we go 8-4. How serious of a candidate would Mullen be? Whether he will be or not I think that we will be sweating is out every year at the end of the season.

At this point in his career, he's getting 2.5 mill/year and could go 8-4 forever and never be fired. In BR, you'll always be compared to Saban, and even if you win a MNC, if you follow that up with Capital One bowl victory and then 8-4 you get fired.

Yes Miles does some dumb things at times but he has still had some great teams. They want to compare him to Saban but Saban is proving that he is truly a rare breed among college coaches and recruits like few others. Fact is, before Saban, LSU had struggled for quite a long time under guys like Gerry Dinardo and Curley Hallman. Yes, theoretically LSU should have everything needed to be great team every year since they are the only FB school in a state that produces a LOT of talent. But history has shown that they can routinely have mediocre teams.

And I've been saying it for a while. LSU people need to remember that it wasn't long ago that they were a consistent middle of the road team, and occasionally dipped into below average.

Damn, I miss DiNardo.....

BSU, Jim Harbaugh Stanford....somebody like that. They're hard to judge having hired three yankees in a row.
