Tell me I'm not a fan for wishing for an MSU loss if you want. However, sometimes you have to look to the future. A cheap thrill from a useless win on Saturday will actually do our program more damage than good. I feel that pulling for MTSU is actually more of a testament of being an MSU fan than not.

Of course a loss on Saturday must also be followed by embarrassing losses to UK, UPig, Bama, and UMiss.

That would be a very bad end to the season, but another year under this regime will be much worse than beating MTSU by a FG or somehow pulling one of Randy Crooms' famous "signature" wins in the remaining SEC games.

If we bomb out the rest of the way, surely, surely, Randy Crooms will be gone.

If there was a hope in hell of there being a "blue out" this weekend, I would show up and could die happy, laughing all the way.

i am hoping croom makes some terrible in game decisions that get us beat. a moral victory doesn't apply when it comes to MTSU so i would rather us get an L at the hands of croom's stupidity than us get blown out...but I will take either one. hopefully the team will start turning on him if croom is the sole reason that we lose by a stupid decision. they can't be liking getting thrown under the bus each week by the guy who is perfectly coaching them. if the team turns on him and we lose out...done deal.

I really think the only way Crxxm gets fired this season is if we lose this weekend and finish 3-9 or worse. And long-term it'll be much better for MSU to go ahead and take it up the *** for another 6 weeks and then start the road to recovery than to limp through with a couple more wins and be stuck with Crxxm for another season.

There is no way possible for me to pull against MSU. If we win this game and lose the rest that should be enough. If going 3-9 isnt enough to fire this tub of **** we have bigger problems than Croom.

I'm at the point where I fear that this incompetent MFer is going to pull 2 more out of his *** and we'll be stuck with him even longer. I need him to get shitcanned Saturday (not literally on Saturday, obviously, but the tide of discontent leading to his dismissal becoming irreversible, so if he does luck out 2 more it doesn't matter). I need this to be over.

dont think ill ever actually root for an opponent. it kinda defeats the purpose.
i wont call you a 'fake fan' or whatever though. to each his own. you are hoping the end justifies the means, and i really dont think he will be fired this season...so i dont see the end justifying the means.

i know there are some serious idiots in our fanbase who will claim a win over MTSU means we are headed in the right direction. but i also honestly believe that the man with the power over Croom's job isnt one of those idiots. i dont think he would actually view a win over MTSU as proof that Croom should stay.

and then when I'm reminded of how bad we are and that any SEC team worth a **** should be beating this team
21-0 already I'll change and root for MTSU and quit watching the game and go deer hunting.

I cannot sit in the stands and root aGAINST MSU. However, I honestly think I would be in a better mood if we lost than if we pull out a rousing 17-6 victory at homecoming. Disastrous failure can be just as, if not more, entertaining as hopeless glimmers of success.

My assumption has ALWAYS been that, when someone posts that they are pulling for state's opponent to knock us off and hasten Croom's departure, that this is NOT akin to a statement that they are actually donning the f'n colors of the opponent, grabbing a pom pom or whatever, and physically ROOTING them on to victory. Does this really even have to be said?!?!?

Good gooble-dee-goo, people. What we're talking about here is nothing more than a QUIET satisfaction with the opponent's victory. Nobody is talking about cheering out loud.

what are you going to do?

I'd be morbidly curious about who he could find to take a one year job.

We want to win long term. It's clear that's never gonna happen as long as Croom is in charge. Hollow victories over mediocre competition won't change that fact. If it takes losing to hasten his departure, then we shouldn't mind losing now.

I'm not suggesting actively cheering for the opponent at a game. That would be taking it too far. But if losing now is what it takes to get Croom out sooner, then we shouldn't mind that. Long term, whatever gets Croom out faster is what's best for our program.

then people need to quit going to games. UT's AD Mike Hamilton and people associated with the program have basically said Fulmer will be gone if they keep losing and fans keep staying away from Neyland Stadium. I have been to 30+ UT home games and this past week was the worst fan attendance and apathy I have ever seen. Hamilton noticed and Byrne would notice too if DWS is half empty.

We already have the crappy football, now we need 30,000+ empty seats.
