the only one with any speed is Matthew wells. All of the other LB's looked slow to the ball.. I hope they prove me wrong but this could be a major problem starting next week when we play SEC speed.... Overal all team looked good. I just wanted to know what yall thought about are LB's.....

This is an area Auburn and LSU could kill us if we don't get some better linebacker play. Our guys were having a tough time shedding blocks and they were not running to the ball. On the other hand, it was obvious Memphis was more talented over last year. But they are just as poorly coached.</p>

...I was expecting a big drop off in talent.

I didn't see that.

When these LB's blitz, they possess the speed & meaness to cause massive disruption.

What I saw was a talented group of LB's who haven't learned their assignments yet.

But they are mean & will hit you; I was impressed with that aspect.

Cam was a thread to Whitley. And by threat, I mean a blocker had him backpedaling so fast he could have injured Nicoe.

I saw some flashes of hope so we will see. I saw they had trouble shedding blocks. But with Cox out, no DL really commanded a double team so OL came free a lot to LB. That's no excuse for not being able to shed the blocks but maybe it'll get better. Maye didn't impress me though.

Not sure if it was a coaching call, but why were our def backs playing 10-15 yards off the line of scrimmage, especially after Memphis started completing short passes.

Also, was concerned with how easily it looked like Memphis was able to run the ball on us at times. Maybe our second string guys were in at the time, but I just am not sold on our defense just yet.

On a separate note, I loved how Relf goton Carmon's *** for making the offsides penalties. Shows that Relf has truly developed into a leader of the Team.

Hopefully Dan and the coaching staff can use all of the mistakes as teaching points and these will not be made again.

Besides graduation, we've lost 4 guys on the defensive front within a year- Nick Bell, McKensie, Howie, Carmon, and then Cox suspended.Whose gonnasub for Boyd and Cox, and can we make a 4th and one stop?
