Don't you know... free speech is selective. Depends on the subject and audience.
You are only guaranteed free speech from the government. It's not between private companies and citizens. The government just can't imprison or punish you for your speech, except in the event it can cause harm.
I don't agree with the guy. But the biggest threat to our democracy is cancelling people and ruining anyone that we don't agree with or doesn't fit our agenda. This is the left at its finest to keep everyone under control. No free will or free speech. They know better than you hoe you should feel or think. It complete bullcrap. We have to stop it now.
Unless he is somehow being punished by the government, he still has is right to free speech. That doesn't mean there aren't consequences from private companies or private citizens.
I think he is more about bringing up conversations then just tweeting or saying what he truly believes

suspending him for saying something is silly. Free Speech is what this country is built on. Whether we agree or disagree with it.
Private companies have a right to protect their interests as well. If his words negatively impact them, they certainly should have the right to negate that. His free speech rights aren't any more prevalent than the rights of others, including businesses.

I don't think you understand who the bad guy is, in the eyes of Kanye, Kyrie and the black community.. These aren't white supremacists in the way you think.
And I don’t think you understand the history of both Jews and People of Color in the United States. You certainly don’t understand, as someone who married into a Jewish family, that these same things parroted by groups like the Black Israelites and endorsed by Irving and West are the exact same tropes that have been used for a long time to hurt Jews in this country by “white Protestant” Americans of a certain class.

Ken Burns recent documentary on the Holocaust covers a lot of this.

This isn't about white protestants.

I also didn't marry into a Jewish family, you dolt. Try reading before you blow a gasket.

Facts. You have to be blind or in on it to not see it. Nobody shows more division or tries to silence people they don't agree with more than these clowns.

A difference of opinion is I like ketchup on my hot dogs instead of mustard or I think I want my tax dollars paying for better roads.

Not “anyone not wearing a MAGA hat is an evil Marist commie *** groomer pedo and they should be dealt with”

Glad I could clear this up for you.

Kanye is a flat earther who hates Jews and thinks Hitler did a lot of good things.
Just think about the morals of those who like him better than other players...

Kanye has spent so long trying to convince the world that everyone hates black people that I am pretty sure he now hates black people himself.

I can’t stand him, but bringing up free speech here is a mistake far too many make. The first Amendment regarding free speech involves the government. Government cannot restrict free speech. An employer most certainly can and often does. You can’t say or do anything you want and get away with it, especially if you do it during work hours or on your employer’s property. People are often fired for saying things even while not on work time. These days people have been fired for things they said years in the past.

I think he is a bit crazy but I respect the hell out of him for standing up for what he believes in. He is spouting for Britney Griner to be released so he’s not 100%. I didn’t know about this latest thing about Black oriole or whatever he’s talking about because I try and limit my social media usage to once a month.

I don't care about white anglo-saxon racism in regards to this topic. For once, it's not about whitey.
You’re participating in the very thing I’m talking about.

and I find it more than funny that white people only care about black voices when it parrots their own beliefs and biases. So they have a black voice to say “look that one is telling it like it really is!!!” despite an overwhelming mountain of historical evidence and lived experiences saying, in the words of Lee Corso , “not so fast my friend”.

White liberals do the same thing.

Honest question: Do you think she shouldn't be released because she had < 1g of hash oil in a country where it was illegal? Or do you not think she should be released because she said things you disagree with?

First, we just got the report that the gov was working with twitter, reddit, other social media platforms to silence the other side and to promote their agendas. So your claim of “governments cannot restrict free speech” seems to be out the door nowadays

second, while I agree you shouldn’t take to Twitter to blast your employer. Where do we draw the line? I did not see where Kyrie was talking negatively to the nba or said the nba backs up his promotion of this film. A private employer should not have the authority to dictate what you can say if it’s not directly about them

I think she broke the law and is paying the consequences. It’s not for me to say well it’s just oil so whatever, she went to a country, where she has played for years and broke their laws. Wether I agree or not with the law is pointless. To act like she’s a victim and that she’s illegally incarcerated is flat out wrong and that is the narrative I have a problem with. I also don’t support trading an arms dealer and one of the most wanted individuals on the planet for her.

Free speech is literal violence and a threat to Democracy!! Reeeeeee
Speech without consequence most certainly is.

if you want to use and support harmful rhetoric by all means go ahead. Stand on a street corner and tell it to the mountains.

But when you’re confronted by people who say “this is kind of ********. These ideas you’re expressing aren’t good ones. They’re actively harming people” do not cry about being oppressed or “muh free speech!”.

My employer doesn’t allow political campaigning or solicitation of any kind including charities, fundraisers ect. We have a list of charities supported by my company that we can donate to how many times we want and how much we want.

there are no voter registration drives, no wearing of campaigning attire, etc.

And you know what? My workplace is great and no one is crying about their free speech being taken away.

It’s Cal’s fault?

What? No. What is Calipari’s fault is sucking azz to the point where he’s becoming a drain on this program and a laughing stock to the college basketball world. Ima UK fan, I’m not into being st. Petered, getting blasted on national TV to Duke, having to explain to my 8 year old how we’re the most dominant program when he doesn’t remember UK winning a tournament game, constant losses to UT, watching players sit on the bench to get ready for a draft, I could go on.

No on this topic I would tell me stance but honestly, I fear I would be banned. It’s a shifty topic.

Yeah and who’s gonna determine what is hateful and hurtful exactly, this is why the first amendment was made in the first place so go kick rocks. You joined 51 minutes ago and this was one of your first posts 😂.

But you don’t work for the nba. All they’ve done the past few years is allow the players to promote their political affiliations, campaign, ask for donations for racial injustice organizations, etc.

You can’t silence someone just because you don’t agree with them when you promote players taking a stand for social and political issues.

I’m just telling you what the Constitution says. The current administration violates more laws than the mafia. The 1st Amendment, like all of the amendments making up the Bill of Rights, lays out the rights we have simply for being born and a U.S. citizen, and states that the government cannot infringe on those rights. It simply does not apply to private citizen issues. Go off on a racist rant on Twitter and see how your employer responds if they find out about it. Another example. You have the right to protest, but you do not have the right to protest on your employer’s dime or property. That’s why NFL players taking a knee during the National Anthem is not protected speech. They were doing it as employees, on their employer’s time, and on their property. They could’ve taken action against the players and it would’ve been completely legal. They just didn’t want to hear the criticism for doing so.

I’m usually a Kyrie defender for his beliefs no matter how weird they may be. But the fact is he watched and then promoted a film that denied the Holocaust even happened. What if Joe Harris shared and promoted a Christian Identity propaganda film?

Well I agree, we’re clearly on the same side

i don’t like the government agenda being pushed thru private companies. We’ve entered a realm that is unconstitutional and half of our population doesn’t even care

Your problem is not with politics in sports or anywhere else. It’s the politics you don’t like being in those things.

Promoting widely debunked conspiracy theories and anti-semitism isn’t the same as saying “get out to vote!” or “donate to this cause I’m passionate about”.

the fact you can’t see the difference is telling.
