And if you have, did you fill it out? I did and hope that everyone else does as well. The questions seem to be well thought out and I'm glad they are aggressively doing the things necessary to keep MSU the top school in MS. They have plans to really step it up academically as well.

Our University is moving in the right direction. You can just sense the recent committment to aggressively market our athletics, our academics and the overall feeling of inclusion. This is why more MS students are picking MSU over any other school. They know that they are on the verge of something special.
Ok, enough soapbox.
Beat USC!

A couple of thoughts:

1. I'vebecomea bit disappontedas I fill outthe survey. It seems to indicate that Iwasn't all that happy at MSU when I was a student when the opposite is closer to being true.A major part of the problem I think is thatMSU doesn't offer a degree in myfield which means it's difficultfor me to promote MSUin response to the survey's questions-- which means MSU gets mostly poor marks from me in question 6 & as well as 19 to a slightly lesser extent.
2. I'm a bit surprised to see a question concerning SACS reaffirmation of accreditation (#26-- the Quality Enhancement Plan makes up a major part of it). I don't know what MSU would choose as its plan.

asked and answered

I was glad to see a spot to brag on the one best thing (or something like that), gave me a chance to brag about my favorite Prof in my years 98-02

Great to see MSU continuing to ask for feedback in all ways. That's how you continue to improve and get better as a University. Hope we have a high response rate on these.

Well, good for them. Because throwing up a stellar #157 nationally is about as piss poor as it gets and seriously harms the value of my degrees [yes, that's plural].

Hey, Mississippi Legislature!!! Are you f'n listening? Help our better universities achieve better results, asshats.

National trends have long beenin the direction ofdecreased public fundingof state-supported universities and colleges which is why there are tuition increases and ever-increasing moves for donor support (incidentally another reason for the survey-- which is to see how to address alumni/potential donors more effectively).

Seemed like I was giving the University a bad wrap as I filled mine out. I took the liberty of writing them a novel in the comments section explaining my large amount of fair and poor answers. The Real Estate Department at MSU is considerably lacking, and I let them know that. Not so much from an instructor standpoint, but from a lack of good courses aspect. It's a shame, they could do so much better.

I wrote a lot in the comments, so we will see if that really means anything. One thing they gotta remember is that most alumni don't have a lot of constant contact with the school. I had some stuff go down with the College of Business the one time I tried to offer help. It would have been a minor issue except they just treated me like **** over it. It was good to get it out of my system, not that anyone is going to care....

approx 60 percent of the entire state budget goes to education from top to bottom. Currently you have to fund K-12 education and a lot of it is wasted. I mean... what in the Hell does Bolivar county need with five school districts complete with an administration for each? There was pretty much a test vote in Prentiss County as to the need to consolidate the schools. And not just one school.. it was 2 or more. Two schools in Prentiss county graduate less than 20 students. the vote to consolidate failed. I asked several people why since I used to live in that county and still know many folks there. The reasons ranged from "I want my child to go to the same school I did" to "we would not have the rivalries in the basketball teams anymore." High School Basketball? Seriously? You would turn down a school with better resources, better equipment, better choice of subjects, and better facilities for High School Basketball?? Truth be known.. Each county of this state should have no more than one high school.. not counting the city schools that would be needed for the larger urban areas.<div>
</div><div>I then came to the conclusion that it is again the moronic general public of this state that is holding yet another thing back. ***** about poor education and spending on education.... but keep your school that graduates 15-20 students a year because you have to have to watch pitiful, backwoods high school basketball. </div><div>
</div><div>Until you cut waste in K-12, The universities in the state will suffer. </div>
