A poster named Jakarii started a thread on the main board claiming that he's supposedly gotten info from Frank Jackaon's inner circle out in Utah that Frank is going to declare for the draft and hire an agent.
Frank is at best a second round pick and if he goes I don't know what to say anymore because while a great athlete and scorer he is not an NBA sg and did not display good functions of being able to run the point. I'd be shocked and Duke would be in big trouble because that means we are way beyond extremely young and have no established players except for at the HS level

Yeah I was surprised when I saw a thread on the main board claiming that he's leaving for the draft. The OP of that thread is also saying that supposedly everyone out there (I'm assuming in Utah where Jackson is from) knew that he wanted to be one and done before the season started.

I know it's probably the slightest of chances for happening, but I get chills thinking about having Harry and Wendell in the paint together. That could be ridiculous. We would OWN rebounds. And shot blocks? OMG. I hate to lose Harry, he was just finding his way back and the season ended.
Hope he comes back but if he is first round it is simply not worth the risk of losing millions of dollars if he gets hurt again

That's basically the question. Can't really blame him if he says screw this, I'd rather be a second round pick and take my chances than go through that ******** again.

Luke is a first round lock, he's gone. Could there be a scenario where he says maybe I'll come back- I guess until anything is 100% done there is, but I'd be blown away stunned at this point. Grayson is just a completely different story, but as a few have pointed out he has started to reappear on draft boards in the first round. Both kids will clearly test the waters and receive all of the necessary feedback. But as I've said ad nauseum I don't expect either to return.
If he is a first round lock he should go but I am not sure that he is a lock for first round.JMO but the NBA Combine will tell the tale on that

If this is true, HUGE mistake by Frank and an even bigger loss to the program. No idea why he would declare and be a fringe first rounder when he could come back and increase his draft stock by being a centerpiece of next year's team. It just doesn't make any sense for it to be true.

Something tells me it's just a rumor because if there was any truth to it then I'd think that we would've heard about it from multiple places by now.

Imo he is first round material...do I think he's ready no..we all know the NBA drafts on potential though so yea...do I think another year will help his draft stock ? I'm not sure we've seen A lot it could go either way..I hope he stays but if he's getting info he's a 1st lock I'd go while the goings good...:(...he's going to be so good reminds me of Dwayne wade...sure nobody's heard that comparison before lol ...he outperformed by a long shot Allen and Kennard their freshman year..just think ..not even playing his natural position ....or enough minutes early imo

From what Im hearing, Frank would rather stay, but his dad wants him to go. The dad seems a bit of a stage dad. Also, Chase transferring closer to home. Lord, keep Javin in Durham!

I'm curious to see if we go after a grad transfer or even a juco player based on how many leave and how many freshmen we ultimately end up bringing in.

I'm gonna take the stance that all rumors are true. If someone projected to go stays then it'll be a pleasant surprise.

Wow. That's very worrisome if Frank leaves along with Luke and Grayson. I don't care what freshman come in next year, we're not contenders without at least one of those guys back. The potential ofChase transferring along with possibility Bolden leaving is another huge blow.

If these rumors are true, rather than our lineup next season, I'd be more worried about why our young players are wanting to go. Is it because of wanting more minutes or something else concerning the staff?

I'll say this m, imo if a team averages a transfer every season dispite the whole," Duke just wasn't for them!" Something is wrong. Especially if that kid don't bolt after freshman year. It don't take two years to decide a school just isn't for you and most of these kids leave in good academic standings.
Like it or not, Duke is gonna recruit OAD, I have learned to except it and the fact that it might be at the cost of a transfer every season. K could have learned it cost the team a couple games but seeing no minutes with a lead is crazy

It usually works out. I remember after the 99 season when so many left...Brand, Langdon, Avery, Maggette, Burgess, Domzalski...I thought oh well next year will be a struggle, but the next year went 15-1 in the ACC.

Isn't Frank doing a Mormon mission here too? I think those are generally 2 years. I think that, along with him being a fringe first rounder at best, means he's almost certainly back. I believe his plan all along was probably 2 years. If he'd had a Tyus Jones freshman year, then maybe he'd have bolted.

I can't imagine a scenario where he goes anywhere but back to Duke.

Timo I agree but I think I am a lot older than you. I know Sky and OADD remember the multiple transfers of a star-laden Duke JV team in early 70s under new coach Bucky Waters. It may well have not only cost us an ACC title, but contender for national crown! In short buddy, nothing surprises me....

I would agree with this. I think these rumors are nothing more than exactly that which always seem to fly this time of year. Sometimes exercising some common sense seems practicable

I'm never surprised anymore by transfers or OAD's. In society today there is a growing subculture among elite athletes and it's an ego of expectation of entitlement. The old school way of working hard to get there is becoming a distant memory whereas social media, ranking systems and handlers not only influence ways of thinking but cloud judgement.
Most 5 star players need a hyphen when they say their college name bc it should also read after the hyphen the word me. This mentality is being cultivated and fueled to an unhealthy extreme to push players towards jumping for their dreams rather than earning it through development.
I will truly believe that to adapt the NBA should revisit a player being eligible right out of HS and then not again until after their sophomore year or 2 years in college.
I know I'll get some heat for this posting but it needed to be said.

If I remember correctly only one of those five freshmen Gary Meliconi finished at Duke and each transfer made all conference at the schools they transferred to.It got so so bad under Bucky that Duke players that hosted Recruiits were advising them not to come here

Duke just announced that Jeter will be transferring.

The only thing I can think... maybe either Knox comes in and/or bolden comes back? This I feel has to do with playing time and if one of those or both dont happen I feel like there would be some playing time to go around... could be way off and like I said in the other thread I hate that he's leaving.

Weirdly it doesn't make much sense considering the 5 spot is pretty much open the next 2 years. It is not his fault regarding his injury this year, so it's not like he was forgotten on the bench (maybe late in season, yeah). Now he would likely have to sit out a year, be 21 years old by the time he plays basketball again. This definitely speaks about what else might happen this week....

Harry and Marques gone. Javin and Vrank are going to be our Frontcourt next year with Jack and Carter. I would not be surprise if Sean Obi gets BIG PT.
