Louisville is referred to as University-6. We already know Auburn, Southern Cal, Okie St. and Arizona are involved. Who is missing?

Looks like Miami is confirmed.
Filings show that Gatto and other defendants allegedly made payments amounting to $100,000 to a player’s family to convince the athlete to join the team at a “public research university” in Kentucky and $150,000 to another family so their child would play for an Adidas-sponsored basketball team at a private university in Florida.

Specifically, Adidas is accused of paying high school players to attend Adidas schools, with the end goal of those players signing with Adidas later. Adidas-outfitted schools Louisville and Miami are referenced in court documents as University-6 and University-7, respectively, though they aren't outright named. And while he's listed as Player-10 in court documents, part of Louisville's section clearly references the Cardinals' recruitment of late signee Brian "Tugs" Bowen, with Adidas allegedly agreeing "to funnel $100,000 (payable in four installments)" to Bowen's family.
The player involved with Miami is less clear, though it's a 2018 recruit, and Adidas allegedly discussed paying him $100,000 to $150,000 — less if paid in 2017, and the higher number if the payment could be deferred to 2018.

this stuff is not new. Someone finally got caught. there is a reason you hear about "runners" and people that are "plugged in" to HS and AAU basketball... and why there are recruits that are "Adidas guys" and "nike guys"

None of the assistants that have thusfar been directly caught up in this have been at an Adidas school...

UCLA - UA
USC - Nike
Ok State - Nike
Auburn - UA
South Carolina - UA
Louisville - Adidas
Miami - Adidas

You're right and hopefully this will have an impact. The college game for me has become borderline unwatchable because of the affect of the AAU culture. The NCAA doesn't have the resources to take on the problem. Thankfully, somebody at the federal level said enough is enough and decided to do something about it. Long overdue.

Wasn't UCLA with Adidas until recently?

And where has the FBI been fitting into this until today, if it's nothing new?

Without reading the specifics, and just guessing, it looks like the Adidas exec was poaching NBA talent from Nike/UA bases...and that's when the unwritten but understood line got crossed. And then Nike/UA burned that exec -- and their own personal moles.

I wouldn't look for it to be a great changing of the guard in how the game is played, at least not yet... Just lets those in the game know which lines absolutely can not be crossed...

It ain't over... they are going after Pitino. I think they know who are the dirtiest and who is pushing the boundaries to new levels. They will be taken down. I'd like to see Calipari's name in it.

I started watching the NBA when i moved to memphis a few years back. it has been so hard to go back to enjoying college ball. Last year was better because of the shot clock, but when you know what is going on behind the scenes it is just dumb for them not to go back to the old if you are 18 you can get drafted rules

It is news... but this has been happening since the NBA draft rules changed. There are people that make money hosting AAU tournaments. That is all they do. They are the gatekeepers. They open and close doors for runners. The runners are used by the agents and financial advisors so they don't get caught being seen. There are laws on the books for them. The players have someone "looking out for them" like a family member a coach or someone like that. That is who the runners are dealing with. The idea is to keep all important people out of the spotlight and do backdoor deals... and when things go on behind closed doors sometimes laws start getting broken. Such as this. If the draft rules had not changed there would be zero indictments in this case

The one-and-done rule is silly. When they closed that door, others opened. Although this kind of stuff has been going on for years. A guy that worked for Jimmy Sexton told me years ago that they tried to avoid basketball players anymore because of all the hangers-on and baggage they brought to the table. And sadly, with the advent of 7-on-7 football, the culture has found its way to football.

it is indeed silly. I thought it might help NCAA basketball a bit, but i think it may have made it worse. greed is the underlying problem and it is hard to legislate or make rules that deter it... I mean we do live in a capitalist country and everybody tryin to get paid.

So your solution to finding out what was going on behind the scenes in college was to watch the NBA? Interesting.

Seems to me his interest in the NBA coincided with him moving to an NBA city. And he found that it was a better product for his tastes. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I've said all along that the under-belly of "amateur" basketball would bring down one of college basketball's elite and it looks like UofL's number was picked. I would say Pitino's lawyer is trying to negotiate a severance package as we speak, but given what has happened at that University from their Foundation scandal to stripper gate, he's probably not getting very far. Its no secret that I like Rick Pitino. I think he's one of the games all time greats. And while I wish it was Calipari that was about to go down, its not (yet) and Rick needs to go. Hopefully he will resurface in the NBA at a place where he can chase a championship.
