I guess i haven't thought about it that much until now, but Florida should have a significant drop off and Georgia and South Carolina were mediocre at best this year. How do you see the SEC East shaping up next year? The west should be the stronger side by far.

I think SC has a shot because they will have a lot of players back and the East will be wide open. Alabama is the team in the West until they get knock off.

I see:

1. Florida
2. Tennessee
3. South Carolina
4. Georgia
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt

but I think Tennessee wins it. They have Florida at home.

It's certainly wide open, and I think South Carolina could have a MSU 1998 year.

I remember when there was a time when I thought the SEC should be restructured because the SEC East was so loaded compared to the West. Now it's reversed.

they have at least 16 or 17 of their 2 deep returning on defense, and it was reallt good this year. Not sure if they will be good enough to knock Fla off, but they will be tough.

SC has alot returning and will be good
Jawja is always solid.

Good to at least see the East up for grabs for a change

Crompton is probably addition by subtraction but who do they have coming in? They lose Hardesty too who was easily their workhorse and best offensive player.

That same defense also gave up 42 to Ole Miss and 37 to Va Tech, and next year they might return a lot but they also lose Berry and won't have one of the best defensive coordinators in the last 15 years of football coaching them. I think UT is lucky to make a bowl next year.

Georgia loses yet another starting QB so their offense will probably be as bad as it was this year, laden with turnovers. I don't know what they're losing defensively. I think Richt is probably done and if UT has any success I can see UGA going after Dooley and there will be suicides in Knoxville.

Florida will still be good if Urban is coaching them. I'd say after that I'll go with Carolina and UK. UK has a pretty favorable schedule against the west, getting us as the traditional rival, Auburn, and they swap Bama for Ole Miss. They also get Cobb back.

they have Bama (at home) and go to UF near the end of the year, when UF's newcomers should be meshing well by then.

UT, GA and Ark come to Columbia.

They open at home with USM, odd.

Road is Vandy, Kent and a tough Auburn.

They need to beat Aub, UT and GA. That UF game could be for the East. Bet they are hating having Bama - replace them you have a good shot at 6-2 which should win the east.

They have 7 starters returning on defense, plus 10 of 11 of the 2nd teamers....

on offense- while they do lose the QB and 4 of 5 on the OL, they return Brown and their top 3 pass catchers from 2009- Jones, Moore, and Stocker

They will be pretty good with what they have returning

your QB and 4 out of 5 on the OL isn't exactly a small loss. Mississippi had a lot of starters returning for 2009 too, but the losses they did have were pretty big.

losing Berry or not- they have 16 or 17 of their top 22 defensive players returning- plus signees coming in- they are going to be Hell on defense

I agree that losing 4 of the 5 on the OL and maybe Crompton will hurt, but they are going to be damn good on defense- which will keep them in every game they play. Returning all their top WR's plus Brown in the backfield will make them ok...

People didnt think we could be decent on offense until Mullen made us better did they?

So this guy is addition by subtraction?

Hell, sign me up then.

And, before you say something about his stats in SEC games here you go:

243 Att., 137 Com., 1686 Yards, 14 TDs and 6 Ints.

lose Hardesty. Brown's a talent obviously but I don't see how they:

1) throw the ball effectively with the lack of talent at QB, and a new OL; or

2) run the ball effectively without an passing game to keep defenses honest, and with a new OL.

Defensively they looked good in spurts last year but also gave up a **** ton of points in some games, and finished middle of the pack in scoring defense in the SEC. Sorry if I'm not buying that, with their third defensive coordinator in 3 years, they don't set the world on fire next year.

Not to mention, as someone else pointed out, they also lose arguably the best defensive coordinator in the NCAA or NFL today. I do think UT will have a good defense and a decent season. But I don't see them challenging Florida for the East title.

I don't see where you're getting this from. Losing 4 of 5 OLinemen, your two top TE's, one of the SEC's best RB's, and your top two QB's basically means you're starting over on offense. The UT fans I know aren't expecting much at all next year. They have a huge void at QB and have no idea who's going to start.
On defense, remember that they lose two DT's, the best DB in their history, and two starting LB's. I think UT will stay the same or get worse next year.

FL is still loaded and will win the East, although they will take a slight step back and might finish w/ a 6-2 record. They return 4 of 5 OL, have some WR's ready to break out, all their backs return, and I think their QB will have a Mallett like first year. I heard Shane Matthews say Brantley was the most talented pure passer UF's ever had, and from the little I've seen him play, he can really throw the football and will be the most talented QB in the SEC (possibly outside of Mallett, but his accuracy and footwork will be better than Mallett's) On defense, it depends on who all turns pro, but they'll at least return as many starters as UT (6) and have recruited better than anyone. They've got something like six 5 stars that haven't really gotten playing time yet, not to mention the ones they are bringing in right now, which might be the best class of all time.

I think UGA will be 2nd. they return a lot of starters and their QB is supposed to be pretty good. This is South Carolina's make or break year, they return almost everyone, and if they don't do it now, Spurrier needs to move on. I think he's lost his luster and hasn't evolved as the game has. His stuff just isn't as innovative as it once was, not to mention he HAS to have great QB play for that offense to work, and he just hasn't had that and probably won't w/ Garcia

You said he was probably addition by subtraction, which he isn't. He was better than what they probably will throw out there this year.

He was a pretty solid QB last year for the Vols. He wasn't great but I'll take 27 TDs and 13 picks from my QB.

Did you even see him play last year or are you just commenting based on his play as a junior?

Eric Berry and Monte Kiffin.

And I don't think Monte was there long enough to have leave it in such good shape that it drives itself. Like Less Miles walked in to at LSU.

Florida has John Brantley to replace Tebow and he is absolutely Tebow's superior as a passer. Most of their offensive and defensive lines come back. They have such depth, they can replace major losses. I'd line them up this way:

1. Florida
2. Georgia
3. South Carolina
4. Tennessee
5. Kentucky
6. Vanderbilt

and then UNC bolted for the now traditional ACC v. SEC Atlanta match-up vs. LSU. I hope LSU kills them, which is likely. At some point the ACC needs to bow out of this rape fest. Garcia has had his troubles, but he was only a r/s sophomore this year and they have had oline problems during his tenure (they should have their best oline this season). I like SC as the favorite right now considering UF lost its DC and maybe HC. UF just didn't seem the same on offense this year and they lose the TE and QB.

Tennessee will be the anti-Arkansas. Hell on defense but cant move the ball for nothing.

Kentucky returns to the land that bowls forgot (we take their spot).

the SICK roster of recruits I don't see any team in the East taking them in the coming year. And you can bet Urban will be back! Winner's like him don't just quit - unless he has some serious health issues yet unknown to the public. There will be a new chemistry at UF next year.

unless they are both 4-4 and Carolina has the tiebreaker. The 'cocks will finish 7-5 or 6-6 again. Book it.
