Sorry, I'm bored. My guesses:

Walter Sharpe - don't think any explanation is needed.

Tang Hamilton - my memory may be a little hazy, but I recall a lot of standing around the 3 point line. He eventually led the NBDL in rebounding for a year or two; I assume b/c somebody finally told him that NBA teams like 6'10" guys that care about rebounding.

Ravern Johnson -Seems like he could have been a special college player if he had loved the weight room and wanted to be a good defender. Am I overestimating his athleticism here?

Piotr - I'm not sure he underachieved, I just thought as bad as he played, it would be insulting to him to not assume that he played way, waybelow his ability.

If we are talking about underachieving in the physical sense - he's my vote. He looked the part, but just flat out sucked.

Hell, he's been signed as a FA to two different NBA teams only to be cut days later. It's as if people look at him, assume he should be a freak, then they actually watch him a few minutes and see that he's a lost cause.

He's the definition of underachievement for centers.

I think as frustrating as Campbell was, he was only frustrating b/c he looked like he should be good. But I don't think he sucked because he didn't work hard, I think he sucked b/c he had no where near the coordination to required to be good at basketball.

He was trying to dunk on the Vanilla Gorilla in a pick up game. I swatted his Tomahawk attempt and told him "to get that weak sh*t out of here!!!!!" Everyone started laughing at him. Payback is hell. On their next possession, he set a pick on me that damn near knocked me out cold.

There would be a couple possessions a game where he would look like a beast in the post or the way he would attack the offensive glass and wow you then blah the rest of the time he was on the floor.

Coming off our Final Four year I think he was a pretty big get for us that year. He also set off the fire alarms in Hathorn during finals week. So a special thanks for that.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Vandale Thomas. Played at Lawrence Co. with Dampier on the best high school team I've ever seen (beat Murrah with Othella Harrington and...somebody help me here). Came to State and never really made an impact.

are you really going to try to say Jamont Gordon was one of the most underachieving players we've ever had?

Your expectations for him were a WHOLE lot higher than mine. I'd say he met them considering his job was to be a body at practice and come in during the last minute of blow outs.

He was pretty good as a sixth man on the Final Four team, but he was really average for the rest of his career.

I think Vandale is the hands down winner. Parade All-American to... a transfer to Southern University?

He is from the Bronx and every basketball player who ever comes out of the Bronx is supposed to be the next Kenny "The Jet" Smith right?

If he had any type of discipline he could have been the next Ty Lawson. The kid could fly and create his own shot, his problem was he tried to do that too much and was stupid about it and would constantly find himself at the rim in the air with no where to go. If the kid would have shut up and listened he would have been a very good player. He did pretty well at ARK which I still don't understand why you let a guy transfer to another SEC team in YOUR OWN DIVISION! What a terrible move by Stans.

Anyway, he underachieved.

who could drive the lane, only to dribble the ball off his foot or jack up ill-advised threes with the best of them (if I'm remembering the right guy). Damned if I can remember his name right now.

Todd Myles? Not sure what sort of "expectations" he had coming in, so I'm not really sure he fits the bill here, anyways.

(1) Hedefinitely wasn't a character guy, but I'm not sure he had the greatest tutelage.

(2) Ark was a better situation for him.

(3) We"let' him transfermore or less for the same reason you 'let' a mugger with a gun take your wallet. It's the best of the two available bad options. What exactly did you want Stans to do? Risk probation so that we could keep one slightly better than mediocre player away from arkansas? Hire somebody to break his legs?

under achiever we've ever had but for those of you that remember, Dontae's one and only regular seasonwas not spectacular......Yes, he had an incredible amount of talent but he didn't really start living up to the hype until late in the season right before the SEC Tourney and into the NCAA's............For a guy that was predicted to lead the league in scoring, etc. he averaged less than 15/game and was in Williams' dog house for a while......

but Ray Allen was his ***** in the tournament. I just can't put him on my list even though overall he didn't come close to his ceiling (which was ridiculously high).

Same thing with Jamont Gordon. He didn't come close to his ceiling (although in his defense he could have benefited from having an offense that got him the ball in position to score). Buthe played well enough that I can't consider him in the same class as some of the other guys mentioned on here.

Why would we be risking probation by keeping him and if Stans would have said he can't play in the SECW, I promise he could have found another place to play.

actually wasn't that bad, felt like he gave up on himself too early and transferred to a SWAC school (Southern maybe?). may have been that he couldn't jell with RW.

And isn't Todd Myles the reason we got Ervin in the first place? Myles is now the HC at his old High School in the Bronx, same that Ervin attended.

Horatio Webster was supposed to make a Dontae Jones type impact but ended up not being able to guard anyone down low and settled for too many jumpers from the elbow.
