Who keeps the gate question?

Strictly speaking of regular season games.

Here in the Central District, if it is a game between two district members, the gate is shared evenly after expenses. OOD games vary according to whatever deal is struck. But most of the time, the host team keeps the gate.

In the Mountain 7, each home school keeps the gate. Concessions vary from school to school.

At Union, 100% of the concessions go to the band. Sometimes another sport will sponsor a food truck or sell something else in addition. Friday night, girls basketball sold homemade pork rinds.

At Central (Wise), one concession goes to the band. One goes to the football team.

At Gate City, the concessions are shared by basically everyone that's not football or basketball.

Not sure about the other M7 schools.

Each school pays dues to the district, but I have no idea how they determine the amount.

I suspect the concession situation is a potpourri of ideas. At Dinwiddie, I’m not positive who has the concession stand this year, but there are several other things sold that the sponsoring organization gets the money. For instance, the FFA sells cups of lemonade or tea. Various clubs do the 50-50 raffle. The football boosters club sells tee shirts, hoodies, etc, and usually sell popcorn and snow cones. The JV cheerleaders sell programs. Occasionally, at the larger attended games, a food truck or two will be there.
It’s a really neat deal. Kids learn things and the various clubs make a little money. And it adds to a festive atmosphere.

Speaking of ticket sales, this is the first year that we are not accepting cash. Members of several student groups make themselves available at the ticket booth to help us technologically challenged old folks with online ticket purchases.

Union is still accepting cash, but I imagine that will end soon as several other schools in the area are digital only.
