They really do a great job of portraying what the Prohibition Era would most likely resemble. I've always enjoyed Steve Buscemi's roles in other movies; great to see him in a lead role. The setup is nearly established and the pieces are starting to come together in the show. Can't wait for this gang war to bust out soon...<div>

really neat. The show ties the bosses from several different cities together. Nucky is a real case study.

I like the relationship between Nucky and the Schroeder lady. I see her getting very involved in the business over time.

Also, what's the deal with the agent whipping himself? Is that a sexual fetish or self-inflicted punishment for having sinful thoughts about Mrs. Schroeder?

I was hooked after episode 3.

Was there any doubt when the coat girl had gone on break as Torio's gang came out of the meeting that they were about to throw down?

Also... what are the odds that Jimmy is Nucky's son? Gotta be pretty good.

There's really not a story line I don't like.

great show. The Schroeder lady is wearing thin on me. Be a ***** or don't already. Enough with you.<div>
</div><div>The Chicago/Nucky/Rothsteinstories are the best part of the show. Can't wait to see how that comes together.</div><div>
</div><div>I read on screenjunkies that they signed up for a second season. Said the first season cost HBO right at 70 Million to produce. Well worth it, you can tell they went all out.</div>

The depth of the characters is what really hooked me. Can't wait to see if Nucky turns ruthless. He's been fairly tame so far.

...dudes that wanna see violence and boobs. Too bad the chick Jimmy was with offed herself. She was smoke.

Also, Eastbound and Down is crazy funny. It's 30 minutes of continuous laughter.

Changing gears and networks, Sons of Anarchy was great last night.

Kind of a thread highjack, but I am asking it anyways:

I have been watching Boardwalk Empire and am really enjoying it. On the other hand I have never seen an episode of The Sopranos. My question is how similar are these shows, and If I am liking Boardwalk Empire should I go ahead and start watching the Sopranos?

I have watched every episode of the Sopranos (thank you On-Demand) and I would say that if you're enjoying Boardwalk Empire then go ahead and start in on the Sopranos. The first seasons had a tendency to suck every now and then, but with each new season the show continually got better. The absolute worst part about the show had to be Tony's mother. I couldn't wait for them to kill her off and thank God they finally did. She was 17ing annoying.

One of the things that I like about the show that it shares with shows like Treme and The Wire is that they don't dumb down the dialogue and explain everything so that the audience easily understands every cultural nuance and situation. Instead, they show you what's going on, and let you slowly figure out for yourself how everything works. I think that makes the dialogue much more believable, and it makes the characters more interesting.

I watch it twice a week. I guarantee you if you go back an watch each episode a second time you will learn something new.

Hands down, this is the best show on tv.

Hubba hubba.

According to IMDB, Gretchen Moll is 38, but she barely looks older than Jimmy. He was off to war for two years? She's supposed to be in her mid-thirties and he's in his early twenties?

Great show, though.

I feel like Jimmy is around 20 years old and the mom is in her mid-to-late 30s. It's a bit of a stretch, because she looks younger than she actually is. I think Michael Pitt (Jimmy), although he's 29 in real life, looks like a guy in his early 20s.

I'm really enjoying following the Margaret Schroder character. She seems to be at the center of everything, and while appearing sweet and innocent she is definitely not. The dialogue between Nucky's girl and Margaret in the last episode was simply fantastic.

Not to mention I got to see Kelly MacDonald's boobs last Sunday. Not that I think she's hot or anything. But after No Country For Old Men, she went on the Boobs I Must See list.
