Reid Cornelius

He was a 1988 baseball signee who signed professionally instead of coming to school. He made it to the big leagues after about 7 years in the minors and has been coaching in the Marlins farm system for the last 8 years. He made it back to the big leagues this year as the bullpen coach for the Marlins after being the AA pitching coach last year. Guys I know in the organization say he will be a big league pitching coach in the future.

He was the "Missing Arm" that could have helped us get to Omaha in 1989 and possibly to a national championship!

MSU is mentioned in his bio on the Marlins website

I can remember in my short life. Seemed like he was a bigger deal than Presley, but then again i was a kid so Im probably just exaggerating things.

I am pretty sure he signed the largest bonus ever given to a high schooler at the time. It was over 200,000 i think.

was drafted by the Expos and was a big prospect for several years, but didn't really have much of an impact in MLB.

You are correct, he is one of the biggest recruits that we have ever had- he's up there with Pat Borders, Jay Bell- both of whom would have been on our 85 team, I believe, Kirk Presley, Roy Oswalt, and Matt Butler.
