If Pirtle is that bad, how bad is Britton to not be starting?

Dont ask me I'm obviously not part of the Cohen=LaRussa crowd. Britton has a year of SEC competition under his belt, Pirtle doesn't. I hope we see him tomorrow. Let it be a true position battle.

I hope you aren't implying that I am part of the LaRussa crowd.

I am with you on Britton and Pirtle. What Coach hasn't remembered yet is that I also thought Britton would be the starter this year. I just don't have a single iota of internet cred riding on it and have no problem admitting when I am wrong.

It might be funnier if Pirtle wasn't batting .000 on the year (0-6) In your need to be a douche you look that fact over and make Coach's point for him.

Still early in the year*

2nd base is the only position without a hit so far

Pirtle has ZERO errors, that's the primary reason he's starting. I'm willing to give him more than 6 ABs to declare that his hitting sucks. If you've kept up with any of the fall stats or preseason scrimmages you would know that Britton is an error machine.

I swear you sound like you won't be happy until we go on a losing streak so you can be justified in all your bitching....maybe Cohen sees more potential with Pirtle and thinks it won't be long for him to start reaching it...or maybe he is going to give Britton these next two. I don't agree with everything Cohen does and I have devoted the majority of my life to baseball but I'm also not getting paid to coach D1 and he is

Im not saying Pirtle shouldn't be the starter, I was saying D@A is premature in his gloating. Again, no one is paid to coach D1 football and basketball here but we still can discuss those without posts like yours. There's just something about Cohen that you people have to step in, even when there's not any criticism going on.

There has been talk by the Coaches that Britton may be the SS next year- I find it hard to believe his glove is that bad. I know he had a bad scrimmage with the 3 errors- but you dont talk of making "an error machine" your SS

I'm not totally against your bunting theory anymore....not totally in agreement either. BUT, you DO realize that Cohen is winning, right? That's why nobody is agreeing with piling on Cohen right now. We are ranked #5-#16 in the country to start the year...meaning Cohen has our program getting National attention again. Granted, it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

So, I'm not arguing or defending your posts in this or any other threads....I'm just saying that I think people are against you because you are continually pointing out the few negatives of a winning Coach and a winning program right now. Meanwhile, football ended shitastically and basketball is a total bowel movement....so people are excited about baseball, yet everything you post is negative about baseball right now.

Once again, not saying your points are right or wrong, just giving an outside look at why people are calling you out. But maybe I'm wrong.

What was wrong with my post? I simply said I don't agree with everything Cohen does...hell, I've been a Cardinals fan all my life and have scream at the top of my lungs at Larussa at times...chances are no one is going to be completely happy with a coach. Finding one in baseball is even less likely with all the different situations and calls. Really though, Cohen is a good coach. He stepped into a **** situation and had us primed even last year to make a run barring key injuries and we seem primed again this year. All I'm saying is I can take a few bad decisions here and there as long as we are winning. No coach is going to make the right call every time and me complaining about it isn't going to change it. I also believe if our power numbers continue to get better you will see that affect the number of bunts called.

I get bad decisions and decisions that don't work out. Porter made a bad decision taking 3rd. Cohen made a bad decision running Mitchell out there for the 6th.

My one problem isnt bad decisions. It's a fundamental flaw. It cannot succeed. It has been proven not in my little dumbass research, but run probability tables and expected run tables across baseball. A baseball fundamental no-no is bunting one man over from first. It is nothing but negative. And the fact that we do it early in games, with our best and most powerful hitters is even worse. This aren't coaching mistakes, they are fundamental flaws. More than any other sport you have to play the percentages in baseball and what Cohen does with that ONE PLAY TODD drastically goes against the percentages and he did it 26 times in legue play last season. That is not bad decisions. They are fundamental flaws. Without the best bullpen in the nation last year we lose 5 more easy. You cannot rely on having the nations best pen and a closer with a 0.00 era. It will catch up to you, and the best chance of that will be in the postseason against the best. RougeDawg was 100% right in his earlier post.
