Their season fizzled while ours ended on the upswing. They finished a game better overall while we were on top of them in the SEC.

I think ink we take more to Memphis than they do to Nashville by a wide margin.

If we get the bowls you mentioned, you're probably correct because Memphis is closer to most MSU fans than Nashville is to most Bears. Logistics plays a big part. And Nashville is quite a bit colder than Memphis, so there's weather to consider.

But the Bears haven't been to a decent bowl in a while, so their hunger might mean more will go.

And it depends on who each team plays too.

I think the timing of the MCB will play a factor. The MCB is on Dec 30th at 3 in the afternoon. Most people will have to use vacation days to attend because of the crappy time slot. If it was us playing that day I know I couldn't make it.

I think Ole Miss is a little down about MCB because they were poised for

something bigger. We, on the other hand are happy as hell to be going anywhere. Roles reversed from last year.

MSU does too. I graduated last August and I've been trying to join all my friends currently living there since.

Nashville and Memphis are both close enough, so proximity can't be an excuse. Their alumni base doesn't entirely live in the greater Oxford area. They showed up in big numbers for their first game against Vandy, so if they try to give you the excuse that it's too far then it's just an excuse, especially considering every one of them thought they were going to go to Pasadena this year and planned on going.

I remember last year a lot of people wouldnt have gone to Memphis/ Birmingham because of the ending up to the season, but also that people had a tough time making it to Jacksonville midweek.

There is no excuse for people to miss Memphis/Birmingham. Both games are attendable without missing work. Or you can make a nice few days out of it if you have time off.

Wherever we go, our fans need to show up in big numbers. Its either Memphis or Birmingham so most of our fan base will be within 3-4 hours of the game.

Birmingham will be on a Saturday and can be made into a day trip for most of our fan base. No excuses this year, we need to show up big.

Both fan bases travel pretty equal to each other IMO. The max travel size for either fan base is going to hover around 45,000 no matter where the game gets played. I don't think either would bring Nebraska, Texas, or Alabama sized crowds to a game out in Pasadena, but I think both schools are in the upper echelon in terms of a traveling fanbase.

To be fair, how full would TD be if we made the CWS final every season? The highest attended Liberty in the last several years was MSU's against UCF, and that had a lot to do with not going to a bowl for 7 years. I'm sure if we had drawn the Liberty last year we would have had average numbers.

It all has to do with perception. Last year we had our eyes on the Cotton and were pissed to be in the Gator, which is actually a really awesome bowl historically. Whether you were actually pissed to be in the Gator or you just hated what the team was doing, same thing. This year we are happy just to be bowling after going 2 games in the hole. Roles are completely reversed. Both should bring a good crowd. The thing we have going for us is that the Liberty and Compass are both in MSU alumni hotbeds and are a quick drive from campus for students (I was never able to make a bowl as a student because I was broke beyond belief, but we never got to play in Memphis or Bham... where I could have driven to for little money and stayed on a friend's coach for free).

Nashville is just out of arms reach. Of course I'd rather play in the MCB, but I'm not complaining. Ole Miss will have a decent turnout. MSU will too, which is really important after the bed-shitting we had last season in front of God and anyone who turned on ESPN that day.
