Who was All In with Coach Stoops?

I believe the majority really hoped for 6 wins this year, and with the way the schedule unfolded 7 was a very good possibility, but more so than the record I am one that is concerned with the painful coaching fubars we watched this year.

I get being over matched players but we all can list several instances that had nothing to do with our play on the field.

CMS and his coordinators need to get some serious altitude on their learning curve. Obviously each can make an excuse due to lack of experience but... so what? You agreed to the job, get better.

Clock management, timeouts, alignments, game preparation, second half adjustments, handling referees, etc; our staff does not excel in any of these.

We have to hope they can get better and that this recruiting class can stay together. I'm willing to take another rough year in the wins and losses if we can redshirt all linemen and not have as many tactical errors.

After reading all these well thought out comments , it reinforces the point I was trying to make, with my visit to Nutter last week . As I related in a previous post, I was in town and decided to stop by Nutter and talk to a staff member, that I thought I knew well enough,to check on the mood of the staff about the just ended season. Instead, I learned real quick and bluntly, two things, one the mood of the staff was defensive and paranoid and two, obviously my prior friendly conversations were a mirage, just like the the all in better season! I hope Stoops makes it and is successful , but if the reaction by said staff member was any indication of the uncalled for rude response, then hopefully all aspects of the program are open to review and improvement !

There is a lot of debate, taking sides and name calling going on right now amongst our fan base. Many are saying that it will take more than 3 years to turn it around. Others are completely dissatisfied with the lack of effort and progression we saw this past season after so much was expected. One thing for sure, the honeymoon is over and many fans are taking Stoops to task. Here is why in my opinion.

I think the problem for the average fan is that we were ask to go "All In" this year. Stoops was in year 3 and many of his own players would be on the field, we had a beautiful new stadium, experienced QB, experienced OL, ground broken on the new training facility and a schedule that was set up for 7 or 8 wins. We did just that. We went "All In." Thing is that we thought we were going all in on a Full House and it turns out that this staff was bluffing and only had a King High. Yep, we went all in and we lost our asses. Now we are broke; at least emotionally.

UK football fans have been asked to give up a lot. We have lost out seats, our parking spots, affordable tickets and affordable concessions. For what? We were told it was the price that had to be paid if we wanted to compete in the SEC. For years, it has been said that at UK you make the most of the tailgate because you know game is going to suck. We made that work. We renewed our tickets each year for the social experience and interaction with those people we saw each Saturday in the parking lot and in the stadium. We gave all that up. We paid the price but what did we get in return? We now tailgate in a far off lot with people we don't know around us. Most of us sit farther away from the field and the people we have known for 30 years and guess what, the football still sucks.

I would have gladly given up my parking spot and my seats to some big money donor if that was the magic pill that would have allowed us to have winning seasons, go to bowls and compete for championships. However, I am not as excited to give all that up and pay even more for the same crappy product on the field. We were told this was the year by Stoops and by the administration. It was not. Hopefully, they were wrong and next year or the year after will be the year. I will be there but it will take a lot more convincing on the field before I even think about going "All In" again with this bunch of card sharks.
I'm still all in with stoops. He's brouhgt in the best talent in my lifetime to Ky. He may have some growing to do as a head coach but I have faith he'll get there. Just sick of doing things the same old way at Ky, Firering coaches every 3 or 4 years, then starting it all over just to get the same results. As hard as it may be to show patience and go through the pains of a coach developing into what we need, I think it's a quicker rout to success than the one we've taken over and over again. It won't be easy , and the staff and team will need fan support, but with Stoops recruits and a little time I still believe !!! GO BIG BLUE!!!

I feel the same way. Sticking with a coach like Stoops might not sound like the right idea to some but if the UK football program is ever going to become a stable winning tradition patience at this point in time is important. I wonder if the Cleveland Browns ever regret not sticking with a coach they had several years ago, Bill Belichick. Sometimes the coach needs time to gather himself and develop his style. With the recruiting the way it is now, just think what could come with a winning record. I think it could be worth the wait.JMHO

I'm all in, too. I'll be in front of my 75" flat screen 4K UHD TV enjoying an adult beverage with fine food. There will be no more Miller Transportation buses from downtown, being moved from my original seats to God knows where and getting home at 1-2 AM after yet another on field collapse where the coach promises next year we compete.

Come back at the beginning of next season and you will treated like royalty. They don't have to be friendly to you now.

Does it really matter if any of us is "all in" with Stoops. Mitch Barnhart went all in last season with a premature contract extension on terrible terms for the university, so we're stuck regardless. I hope Stoops somehow turns things around, but I've seen precious little to give me much hope. I do know two things for certain, however: 1) Stoops must have a pretty good agent, and 2) I'd *love* to play poker against Glitch Brainfart.

Stoops bro pulls out a championship then that may boost recruiting based on name cred. I just hope he reads coaching college football for dummies before next season .
