Bumphis will be. Patterson is an arrogant, self-righteous prick. He's all about "me" - a cancer like Terrell Owens. Sure, he'll have some great games, but his attitude will be a major issue. We already know his "word" doesn't mean ****.

Greg Hardy has acted like that in HS and college...and he's done alright...

or are pursued to visit. I think guys like Ricco (AJ Jackson for us a while back) that have a long laundry list of offers, including instate schools, and only take one visit to an out of state school is suspect. Sometimes it is not, but it is rare. The reason I specify instate schools is because it is not as rare or as suspect if a guy has lots of offers but only takes one visit to an instate school. They are much more likely to be completely solid and unwilling to consider other offers and therefore sometimes don't visit. Tyler Russell is a good example (although I am not sure if he actually visited anywhere else). He was going to MSU, period. I would not question his offer list JUST because he did take other visits. Happens with instate schools/players much more often.

But, two things here are keeping this going for no real reason. You are trying to equate my questioning offers claimed on this basis (by a couple of WRs) with questioning the entire class or classes using roughly the same basis. I didn't. I say roughly, because as I explained not visiting a home state school whne claiming an offer is not the only thing I said. I only used it in response to the PP Backer post about those specific circumstances involving his comparison.

But, to address your point, yes, I think that Simon and Crawford are good examples of players they were not coveted by their instate schools. I know for a fact that Simon would have visited and probably gone to Bama had he had an offer. He said as much. Like I said...it appears the new staff AU did offer and tried to get him to visit. Bama did not.

Like Ricco and Heavens, that does not mean they may not be good players, but I would question claiming they are going to be better than guys at the same position with more choices. They may all be good players...

There are lots of reasons folks don't ever visit a school that has offered, but when a player from FL or SC visits only one place and it is NOT an instate school, it is a red flag on the validity of those offers. Nothing is fool proof.

I say Crawford did not have a offer, because I think he would have considered it more heavily if he had and maybe would have taken it. he certainly would have visited. What is your point? That has nothing to do with my original post. I have never held these two guys out to be blue chips or exceptional players. hope they are, but based on what we have now I would never claim that. I think signing guys liek that to fill out a class is great for MSU and OM. it is better than what we were filling classes out with. If we battle Clemson for the "lower regarded" guys in the class I will remain pleased.

But even if I said fine...you win...I was using that sole criteria to judge players...I still never claim that having guys like that lessens your class. If it was the basis for high ranking for a class and those guys were your blue chip guys (again...see AJ Jackson and Aubrey McFadden with EO) then I would be slightly worried, but neither school is relying on those type guys to "anchor" their class. They just filled the class out with guys like that. It is a huge step up for both schools. If EO had done that he would not have left 41 scholarship players from three years worth of classes.

I really could understand you going back and forth with me on this if I said..."Your class sucks, it is full of guys lying about offers...and here is why I know this to be 100% certain.." but I didn't. I acknowledge you have a good class with good players, and I even acknowledge those WRs may be good...I just didn't understand Backer's position and responded.

Have a good one.

I do not have that license plate. I am not from Mississippi, but Alabama. My Alabama tag doesn't have it either.

Chad Bumphis, Ricco Sanders, Chris Smith, Brandon Heavens, et. al., will be better than one Pat Patterson.

Are you predicting that all of those will be better players individually than Patterson, or better as a group?

Because if you're talking about as a group....I'd certainly hope so. Of course, if you are talking about a group, I guess you forgot that we signed more than one WR as well.
