Who will be the most improved basketball player this year?

Last year Turner made the biggest leap in performance. I predict a big-time break out year for Ravern this season. I don't think he realizes just how good he can be. If he can take it to the basket more a put forth more effort on defense then the sky is the limit for him.

I think Ravern will get pushed around like a little girl, and just like last year piss his pants again. Will Coach Stans play Osby or Turner in his place...God forbid Benock?, who knows?

In response to your question: I think Bost will be the most improved.

Thanks for the basketball question; although you and I seem to always disagree on players and strategy, at least it is fun to talk about a team that has a hell of a lot of potential this year!

Ravern takes a step back in a more traditional lineup.

Bost, as a PG will have much better stats and I actually look for Barry Stewart to be back to where we all thought he'd be when he first got here with less weight on his shoulders

Actually, there may be an argument to be made in that respect but since he didn't play enough the stats don't show it (however unlike Coach34 I think the Kodi and his attitude are responsible for his lack of playing time not Stans). I hope that he's still got his head on straight like he did at the end of the season. If so I expect he'll have more minutes and statistically at least be the most improved player.

I sincerely hope he steps up but I am not so sure Kodi is the type that responds to the threat of someone taking his spot. Some players work harder to earn it and others sulk that the coach is not just giving them the spot. With Riek, Osby, Bailey, and maybe Sidney behind him, Kodi will be on the bench again if he does not give 100% effort.

Kodi is effing punk period. He wants to ride his talent and not commit himself to working to get better. smart money says he transfers after riding the pine again.

but this post puts you in good stead with me. I have long asserted that kobi is a punk *** piece of ****. In this respect, we genuinely agree.

I agree with everyone who thinks he's a punk and could likely ride the pine on the way to a transfer this season but I'm also an optimist and I'm hoping for the best for both Kodi and more importantly MSU. I think he has the talent to be the most improved player this year but more than likely he'll do something stupid like punch one of Stans kids in the face at practice and sit out the rest of the year.

The only other real option for this thread is Bost. Phil was the most improved last year and I hope he delivers more of the same. His effort has made up for what he lacks in raw talent. Stewart likely won't be that much improved from last year but he's a good player. Bailey is clearly going to be a reserve with what we have in the front court this season but who knows maybe he'll surprise me, and Ravern I don't think has the ball handling skills to do anything but shoot threes. So it really comes down to Bost and Augustus. And I'm really just throwing Kodi's name in there to add to the discussion.

He was overmatched last year and not prepared for the jump from high school to D-I, but he clearly has the skills to be a good player. He should be over the adjustment period now, and I think Stans will use him as a primary backup at the SF/PF spots.

I, like you, think Kodi also has potential to do well this season. I think that he will have a lot of time at 4 regardless of whether Renardo is cleared or not.... Lets assume that Sidney is cleared.

I think Sidney will be either too fat, too lazy, or too poorly prepared to defend quicker SEC caliber 4's. I think that Coach Stans' solution will be to slide him down and let him play 5 while Jarvis is out. That opens up the 4 for all the minutes Kodi can handle, maybe for limited minutes Jarvis plays a little power forward too as a gift for coming back for his SR yr? Then we could have Osby backing up Kodi @ 4. In my opinion, Osby should probably be playing more small forward (3). Maybe we just play a lot of zone? Where does Reik fit if he doesn't redshirt? Dang, we will be loaded with big players this season. I am curious what adjustments and strategies Coach Stans will implement to effectively work multiple big players on the court at the same time into our offensive sets. <-----(this is code for 4 little guys passing the ball around the perimeter and one big guy in the middle with his hand up calling for it won't cut it this year).....unless you put Sindey on the perimeter and have him launch 3's, then maybe it would still work? This is going to be a fun year. Talent level appears to be very high. Credit to Coach Stans, now do something with it.

Yeah, I'm looking for a lot from Romero. He has great potential and I'm hoping he's figured out life in the SEC by January.

I am sure he will start but we need him to play at the level he is capable of playing. His FT % should be 80%+....no excuses.
