It seems as though UK is more excited about being in this bowl as Georgia Tech feels as though playing against UK is elbow them. I would guess maybe 25,000- 30,000 UK fans to maybe half that for Georgia Tech. What say you BBN fans?

Is this even a real question? Ga Tech doesn't even draw well in ATL. They will have very few fans in JAX and UK will have a ton (likely 30,000 or more).
The atmosphere for GT will be an away game while for the Cats it will be a home game :cheers2:

Georgia Tech has a lot of exchange students, especially from Asia...India, Japan, Korea...etc. I'm sure they attend games here and there but they look at GT as a means to an end. Even if they follow their sports after graduation, the vast majority take engineering jobs far away from Atlanta. Kentucky fans will outnumber them by quite a bit.
There is also disappointment among Georgia Tech fans that the Taxslayer Gator bowl start time (11 AM) conflicts with their ACC basketball home opener against North Carolina (12 PM). It's probably not a huge deal as far as Tech attendance but just imagine the outrage if they had done something like this to UK basketball...
I thought some GT fans said only about 100 UK fans would show because it is a basketball school. [eyeroll]
I love it when schools underestimate our football fanbase. One of the best traveling fanbases in the country.
I doubt it would impact the UK number in JAX one bit.
I will probably have more family members there than Ga Tech will have fans 
Our fanbase is a great traveling fanbase to bowl games (though in fairness, we don't go very often so it's easier to get pumped up once every 3-4 years than it is to go every single year).
our fanbase is not a great traveling regular season fanbase. We didn't even sell out our allotment to UL this year. We travel extremely well to Nashville when we play Vandy, but otherwise our contingent at SEC road games is generally pretty weak when compared to Bama, UGA, UT, USC, Auburn, etc.
Well, Stuckinbig10, your numbers on traveling well to other venues might be right, generally, but we had a LARGE contingency at South Carolina, last year ('15), at least 2,500.
I went to Mizzou this season, and was a little disappointed, maybe only 600 or 700.
Now, if you could score the numbers based upon wins each team/program has achieved on the road as an adjustment to the attendance numbers. . . . we and likely South Carolina would be at the top.

We'll have plenty of fans there. The allotments they give to the schools are usually not the best seats and better ones are available through places like Stub Hub. Those ticket sales don't find their way into our reported sales.
However, we do have a rather small fanbase. There are more seats in our stadium (56K) than living alumni in the state of GA (at last check about 45K). Our alumni tend to go all over the place to work. Also, many of our students are not from the US, and don't follow sports.
The game with UNC is also a detractor. There will be a certain number of season seat holders for both football and basketball who won't come to the bowl in favor of attending the basketball game. This is the 19th out of the last 20 years we've been in a bowl, and for some of those fans, the basketball game is the preferable contest to attend.
But still, you will see plenty of GA Tech fans at the game. Most all I've talked to are excited about playing the Cats, even if they don't catch the game live.

There was quite a bit of blue in Tuscaloosa as well, especially when you consider that no one doubted what the outcome of the game would be.
If you go by the price of a ticket on our side of the field compared to theirs we should double or even triple their fan support. Wow BBN!!!:boxing::football:
Kentucky is the flagship university for the state. Georgia is the flagship university for its state. Georgia Tech is a speciality engineering college. Kentucky should have more fans by far. If you were playing Georgia, I doubt you would outdraw them.
The people doing the scheduling realized that it would only matter to the 15 or so people that care about both.
